and its obvious Tyson wasn't interested in fighting after prison. only pride kept him hanging around, but post prison, his bob n weave diminished and disappeared altogether. his combos were replaced by wild swings. his fitness was enough for about 10 rounds max (and falling rapidly), not the 15 he cruised thru when fit.

not to mention the mental effects -being accused of ****, and the prison itself.

Tyson trained twice for 15 rounders, Biggs and Tubbs.

to compare pre douglas Tyson with post prison Tyson:
Early Tyson was fast of foot, inventive, fast and powerful, and combined superbly drilled 'set piece' combinations with a creative flair and natural eye for the chin. he would jab and slip coming in and was always a move ahead. he threw vicious well schooled blistering combinations it was his trademark.

Post prison Tyson suffered from many lapses in these areas. the loss of D'Amato's influence in rooney meant he no longer rehearsed and developed those 'set piece' combos and set ups, he tended to walk in standing tall and relied on single bombs rather than the blistering combos which had been his trademark. Tysons defense was also drilled on a daily basis but was tied to his set ups which he was using less and less.
this is very evident in the holyfield fight. in one of the exchanges Tyson seems to remember a flash from his past and throws his classic combos inside rocking holyfield momentarily but he never showed that spark again.
its all there to see in the film. the Tyson of the Ruddock and holyfield fights was slower, more predicatble, easier to hit and threw one bomb at a time which made him easier to counter, and he became less of a counter puncher himself. his once polished skills which gave him a huge advantage over his opponents had eroded due to inactivity and a lack of daily drilling by the right people. not mention his battling drink and drugs.

as an added note, I believe changing his training team had a massive effect. rooney was right for Tyson in a way none of his subsequent trainers could ever match. fighters who swap trainers like that are headed for peril.

Tyson was technically and tactically better before prison, and had more stamina. His speed and power were pretty intact, though.

I'll say it again, Tyson never fought 15 rounds and the Tubbs fight was a 12 rounder.

He didn't move/bob/weave enough anymore, and this further decreased as the years marched on after that. Pre prison, or at least during his peak 2-3 period, Mike wasn't that easy to hit, especially for an aggressive guy. Plus, he was really good at setting up his bombs with good punching, and a somewhat underrated jab.
After prison he relied more and more on his power, which still allowed him to be better than a lot of guys but had him come up short with the elites. I don't know why this happened, it's like he lost his groove. Drugs, partying, distractions, trainers, some combination of?
Latterly, the losses to Lewis, and the the subsequent losses to journeymen when he was just on fumes are irrelevant in my opinion, that wasn't Tyson, beyond having the same Social Security number.

My bad. Tubbs was for 12. But Tyson trained for 15 rounds against Biggs. I'm pretty sure he could do 15 if needed. ;)

Tyson lost his desire to break a guy down if he didn't get a quick ko. He always went out hard & fast but if he didn't get his opponent out, he was willing to work the body & grind out rounds. The Tony Tucker fight comes to mind.

All the garbage you have written above was plainly on view in Tokyo in Feb 90, so what is you're idiotic excuse for that then? Ffs try to be original because we have heard just about every bullsh!t excuse there is and then some.

My favourite is the moron had to lose 50lbs in 2 weeks. See if you can top that.:roll::nut
