It's ridiculous how people are asking over and over again why this guy or that guy didn't "just" walk down Usyk imposing his will on him. First it was AJ, then Dubois, now it's Fury...

People should realise that this tactics isn't easy at all and it requires: a) great chin; b) fantastic stamina.

I'm sure that trying to walk down Usyk would REDUCE their chances of winning for all the giants Usyk has fought as well as historically great giants like Lewis or Wlad.

    1) Usyk might not be George Foreman in terms of power, but he hits pretty hard, as we could see against AJ, Dubois, Fury and very durable Chisora. You just can't ignore his punches like you couldn't ignore Ali's power or Holmes' one. Plus he is great counter puncher with amazing footwork. So in most of the cases he would put incoming opponent into awkward position and punish him with crisp punches. It would actually play to his hands and make it easier for him to land cleanly (watch the fights against Gassiev and against Madzhidov in WSB).

    2) as I said before, "walking down" tactics requires not only very good chin, but even more so - fantastic stamina. AJ, Dubois, Lewis and Wlad would be DEADLY tired by round 6 if they tried to walk down Usyk. Even Fury, who has better engine/stamina than all of them, would be completely spent by rounds 8-9.

And finally, if you are asking why bigger guys aren't trying to walk Usyk down, my advice to you - go and watch George Foreman's fight against Muhammad Ali, you will understand why.

Yeah I hate that reasoning to explain why a fighter fails to live up to a persons expectations. It's rarely, if ever the case of them choosing to not execute a certain plan but that they have that option taken away from them by their opponents tactics.

It happened with a lot of Mayweather opponents, most people don’t really know enough about boxing and just watch it to get the cookout and beers in.

I'd rather risk getting knocked out if it means the possibility exists that I could win, rather than boxing off the backfoot for a sure loss.

It takes a diffrent kindve skill set to come forward while dodging and evading punches. Canelo, lomachenko, usyk, and beterbieb are the best at it.

Exactly, they are boxers being coached by the best trainers in the world, they have whole teams preparing a game plan, if it was that easy, everyone would have walked Usyk down, but it's an insanely high risk strategy, first of all, Usyk is very durable, then if you do bum rush him, you'll be gassed after 4-5 rounds and Usyk will hurt you badly.

You could do that but it's the equivalent of sprinting out of the blocks in a 2000m race, you'll get ahead and look comfortable for the first 400-500 metres, and then by the end of it you'll finish last place.

Yeah there is one simple component people forget about walking an opponent down....you will be in the firing lane...getting hit!

Not as simple as it sounds.

Big George didn't simply walk opponents down. He jabbed, applied pressure, cut the ring off and timed people to walk onto shots...while also being wary of what was coming back at him.

Usyk applies non stop pressure himself and is very fleet footed. If Fury attempted to just 'walk him down' it would have been the 9th round over and over.

The myth that he doesn't have power has to die, he rocked both Fury and Joshua hard.

Usyk doesn't hit pretty hard. Even at cruiser weight Usyk was known for being a weak puncher. Him hurting Fury changes this now? Lol Fury was hust by Steve Cunnigham and Nevin Pajkic. 2 guys who were known for being extremely light punchers.

Fury is weak, That is why he couldn't walk down Usyk. Since you brought up Geore Foreman, did you ever seen Foreman not try to oppose his will on somebody? Tommy Morrison was a 230 pound steroid head who was a huge puncher. Did you see Foreman run from him? Foreman was the one pushing him around the ring. Shannon Briggs was a 6'3 1/2 230 pound steroid steroid who could bang. Foreman pushed him around the ring. Fury is just weak

Daniel Dubois was almost knocked out by Kevin Lerena a light puncher. So Dubois was afraid to be hit, Anthony Joshau despite his steroid muscles doesn't really impose his will and after Andy Ruiz knocked him he became even more timid.

A legit real heavyweight like Foreman, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis, David Tua, Ike Ibeabuchi, Tommy Morrison Ron Lyle, Gerry Cooney etc would of all walked down Usyk because they wouldn't fear a blown up light punching cruiser weight like Fury did.

Could you Usyk fanboys stop? I never seen such delusion in my life

I am sorry mate but anyone who claims Tubbs is better than Usyk isn't going to be taken seriously by 90% of this forum.

    Footwork is everything in boxing

You can't just walk down either usyk or fury.

Lateral movement is a hell of a drug.

You mean 90 percent of the people here who have no clue to what they are talking about? Thanks. I don't take them seriously either. Tony Tubbs was a heavyweight. Usyk is a blown up cruiserweight. If you can't grasp that a guy who was a heavyweight his whole career is better at heavyweight than a guy who moved up the heavyweight when he was 32 and only had 5 heavyweight bouts then be a dear and stop messaging me.

Yet Steve Cunnigham was walking down Fury, yet Francesco Pianeta was walking down Fury. Also Fury doesn't have good foot work. He has good running skills.
