'jones would walk right through his slaps' - jones couldn't even walk through shot to **** calzaghe's brittle hands at the end of his career so how is he gonna be able to walk through calzaghe when he actually had some power behind his punches.

calzaghe fights at a tempo that no fighter can match, he takes fighters out of their comfort zones and forces them to fight at a pace they cannot deal with.

calzaghe would take jones into the trenches and we know from history that

    - jones has no chin
    - has no heart
    - cannot adapt with a plan B when faced with adversity
    - folds like a lawnchair when the going gets tough
    - is a proven banned anabolic steroids user

its ok watching jones looking flashy against sanitation workers and civil servants but don't for a minute think he would get away with that **** with a prime joe calzaghe.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that Calzaghe (or anyone else for that matter) would be soundly defeated by RJJ at his 168lbs peak. Calzaghe would look very ordinary against that calibre of opponent.

i usually make a point of not entering into debate with minnions who have repulsive vcash totals. despite you falling well below the 1000 vcash qualification limit to enter into debate with an ATG esb poster, i am prepared to make an acception to the rule on this occasion :deal

instead of stalking, trolling, and hating, why not counter my post and enter into debate with with the greatest boxing historian in esb history :yep

i am busy preparing you a delightfull platter of PWNAGE in anticipation of your response :think

i lost my vcash on campbell and paulie :patsch:patsch

well for one you seem to ignore any of calzaghes bad points, and you focus only on jones after he got sparked.

are saying he didnt show a combination of heart and plan b when he fought back to outpoint tarver?

his chin is a moot point because in his prime he noone he fought wasquick enough to catch him.

imo calzaghe lost to robin reid. im pretty sure rjj would have detroyed reid just by walking to the ring.

calzaghe's bad points? his only bad point is his brittle hands that meant he had to fight the back end of his career with no weight behind his punches.

tarver is shite, is it really a big deal for anyone to beat tarver. look how hopkins schooled him despite a 2 division weight jump. where was jones' plan B in the 1st and 3rd fights with tarver? thats not the heart of a champion - when the going gets tough, joe calzaghe meets fire with fire, shows the heart of a warrior and adapts to an opponent where as jones bends over and takes it from behind from shite like tarver and johnson.

his chin is not a moot point. he hasn't got one, simple as that. yes the sanitation workers and civil servants couldn't find it but joe would find it without a shadow of a doubt. don't forget this, jones lost to the likes of tarver and johnson because of his toilet paper chin but jones lost to calzaghe because he was totally outboxed - the gulf in class was huge. now add the punching power of prime calzaghe to the equation and they would be sweeping up shattered glass from that ring for a month.

i find it hard to believe that anyone would think that reid beat calzaghe, it was a close but clear win for calzaghe and we all know that calzaghe broke his hand in the early rounds which is another indicator of how calzaghe fights like a warrior through adversity.

im not saying calzaghe doesnt show the heart of a warrior in his fights, hell anyone seeing his twelth round performances knows this, when enzo begs him to fight safe and he is determined to put on a show.

calazghe does have bad points, there are too many **** names and gaps inhis resume, whether this is all calzghes fault or all the opponents fault, we will never know, but the fights didnt happen.

reid consistently landed the harder shots throughout that fight, he was able to fight his fight.

yes it was a big deal when jones beat him as he was the current champ and jones was coming down a weight. he showed a plan b in the first fight when he was able to dig deep and grind out a points win. the only 2 fights that prime jones struggled in where griffin 1 and taver 1. in both fight he finished the stronger.

so did leonard have a **** chin for being dropped late in his career, what about joe for being dropped by hopkins and old rjj. the truth is in his prime jones didnt take punches as he was too quick so we wont know what his punch resistance was like, but he fought the likes of hopkns, malinga, toney, mccalum, griffin, hill, harding, gonzalez and woods. none of these could hurt him.

i was talking faults in his boxing arsenal, not resume. jones and hopkins have huge holes in theres 2.

reid landed harder shots, maybe calzaghes broken hand had something to do with that. even if reid hit harder it means nothing, calzaghe won the fight and i'm pretty sure deep down that you agree with that despite it being close.

leonard didn't have a **** chin for bein dropped late in his career, he retired for years at a time and was shot far more than jones was v tarver and johnson. look at leonards chin v duran, hearns and hagler in their 1st fights. he takes huge punches and figths back every single time, he never folds like a lawn chair. even when he got dropped late in his career v lalonde and hearns 2, look at leonards response, the heart of a warrior. look how joe calzaghe responds every time he got dropped, he was up instantly and fought fire with fire immediatly, that warrior instinct is not in roy jones when he gets took to the trenches. i have absoloutely no doubt that prime for prime, calzaghe would be able to take jones to the trenches.

like i said i disagree it was a big deal winning the tarver fight, i think tarver is the definition of american hype job. if jones had this ability to fight in adversity we would have seen in it in tarver 2 and 3 and in johnson 1.

with regards to hopkns, malinga, toney, mccalum, griffin, hill, harding, gonzalez and woods, only toney and hopkins are in remotely the same league as calzaghe, as mccallum was passed it when he fought jones.

despite that, toney and hopkins are severley overrated fighters imo and calzaghes style is a different kettle of fish for anyone to deal with. i genuinely believe he takes jones out of his comfort zone and i genuinely believe that anyone suggesting that jones dominates calzaghe is talking complete and utter shite.

there is also the fact that jones was found guilty of taking banned anabolic steroids. i don't agree with cheating of any form.

in terms of boxing arsenal, he is there to be hit, has a tendency to start slow, has brittle hands, doesnt punch with conviction.
well after tarver 1 jones should have retired so i dont put much stock in his fightssince then.

i dont believe jones would dominate calzaghe, it is hard to dominate someone with a good chin who throws 1000 punches. but id favour jones to win.

imo anyone saying calzaghe shatters the jaw of prime rjj is talking utter shite.

Jones was a full class ahead of Slappy when he was in possession of all his natural gifts. He has beaten better fighters and would have destroyed Joe. It's no myth.

I believe Calzaghe was far better than the Toney and Hopkins that RJJ fought. Toney was weight drained in that fight and Hopkins, while a good fighter back then, was never as fast in hand and feet nor as active as Calzaghe pre-hand busting.

Everyone else in RJJ's resume, none of them really match up to Calzaghe.

RJJ wins for me but too many Americans\Canadians talking about slapping are just showing how little they know about Calzaghe. Calzaghe used to have a good dig in his prime... brittle hands led to him slapping

yeah we all know why calzaghe didn't get the hopkins in 2002. it was because hopkins doesn't like career high paydays to fight calzaghe in america :lol::lol: :rofl
