I beg to differ. Manny doesn't plant his feet most of the time making it unable for him to really rotate off his legs and get that full leverage underneath his shots. A few of his opponents have said that's it's not so much his power that bothers you, it's his speed. In other words, his hand speed combined with the odd angles he gives you is what really hurts his opponents.
I'm by no means in awh of Pac as a fighter but I would have to agree that he definitely copped with Cotto's jab well and even was able to gain an advantage countering. As for this theory that he purposely let Cotto get his Jab going that may be true but why should that suprise anyone. Good fighters set up counter oppotunities. He's one of my favourite fighters but Cotto's never been on to think like this. Its one of the many things that kept him from going to the next level.
Am wondering why cotto, who is supposedly a southpaw dominant fighting in orthodox stance have a slow jab? His lead arm is the dominant hand, therefore it should be a lot faster and stronger.
I mentioned speed also.....BUT the punch that sent Hatton to near death and then retirement Pac had his feet planted and it came from his feet through his ass up to his fist which DECIMATED Hatton. :bbb
the problem with cotto against paq was that cotto was more shot than a remington. and having that nobody santiago as his trainer sure didn't help him. who the **** is joe santiago?
Here's Pac countering Cotto's double-jab with a stiff right hand over the top of it on two seperate occasions. Look at the subtle footwork. This content is protected This content is protected
Pac should have followed up with a left uppercut on the first video, i bet that would send cotto again in ***** street.
That first sequence is one of my favorites from the fight. It's rapid fire when you hear Pac block Cotto's jab and come over the top with his own jab. It is clear by that point that Miguel wasn't putting much power on his shots, though.
