30 - 35% picked Duddy over Pavlik - I very much doubt that. Got a link to that poll?

Not so much hyped, just the recipient of way much more media coverage than a fighter of his abilities usually would be.

Let's see.... SNY, MSG, MSG+ and a couple more my insomniac brain can't remember. They're all tri-state networks that play six-hour Duddy marathons maybe every other weekday: mostly his fight against that what's-his-name from Italy three times in a row. All with those horrible Irish commentators that followed him around then, talking about, "Ohhh, we're awful proud of that fantastic Derriere! Game opponent he's against here... very dangerous-ohhh, he's down, Duddy has his man down! Oh, wait, it's a slip. A slip only, but, nevertheless, it's served its purpose!" :huh I've yet to figure out what that purpose would be... or why they never say 'Derryman.'

Duddy's a great face for local boxing and for Free the Irish (and John McCain's questionable plans for both of those arenas) and, though, I've never considered him a world-beater... 1 out of 3 casual fans and 7 out of 8 Irish non-boxing fans in my area are massive Duddy hypers, though. I get asked on a fairly regular basis why Bernard Hopkins is ducking him.

Btw, given the inordinate amount of glowing press coverage he did receive, its surely only fair that now he receives the criticism, or what I would call a fair appraisal of his abilities, from fans and commentators in an equal degree. Duddy sucks.

its not just over in america boss,

on local northern irish tv id say duddy takes up 80% of any boxing being reported

they send people out to meet him in miami and new york and ask him how hes so good

martin rogan, paul mccloskey, martin lindsay all get treated like shite even tho they are way more credible fighters are ignored cos he appeals to non boxing people cos hes a nice guy and the housewives cos hes good looking who talk about pavlik dodging him whilst real irish supporters always knew duddy wasnt even the best middleweight in ireland!

Well, color me surprised... (I think it's between Badd and Burnt Siena)

SNY added Duddy v. Lyell to their daily filling-time-between-baseball-and-hockey marathon! I was sure they'd try to hide their tape on that one in the broom closet or hand it over to Hoffa for safekeeping.

Other than the graphics being all over the place & hanging off the screen and, as usual, giving the master microphone to a kitten to play with, the production value soared to nearly-watchable quality.
