now i aint gonna lie, i myself said i didnt wanna see him above 140 right after the mayweather fight happened....but then i rewatched it last night, found some highlights, and most importantly, i reminded myself WHO he was fighting..... considering all the disadvantages, jmm did damn good for himself and though only landed a few clean shots, he was landing on floyd all night long.... i mean, who the **** lands on floyd round after round, minute after minute ??? NOBODY DOES pac gave mosley a shot which is something that at this very moment, a lot of fans can't stomache....the *******s are arguing that mosley looked a lot better vs mayweather, so that alone makes him the better opponent.... i dont agree...though not hall of famers, jmm clearly has looked wayyyy better vs younger, hungrier and all around better fighters then what mosley last faced in mora....take into account that even their mayweather comparisons dont really add up..and i say that cause IMO JMM did a way better job vs the much bigger, much quicker and overall better fighter in mayweather, and most importantly HE DIDNT GAS AND NEVER QUIT [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE2w4nJlk0Q[/ame] clearing my mind up about this myth really has me excited now to see some life left in JMM at 140...now, i really wouldn't mind seeing him in there with the kingpins at 140 discuss
I'm still interested in Pacquiao vs. Marquez III. They have unfinished business and styles make fights. As you said, Marquez losing to Floyd doesn't really tell us much at all. He did well despite being against a bigger and better opponent.
exactly...that's another thing that each and every real boxing fan should know like the back of their hand...STYLES MAKE FIGHTS but the *******s for some reason dont see that...of course the majority are newb ****s, but the rest should be ashamed of the fact that mosley got the shot and not JMM
I agree Marquez looked better than Mosley did against Floyd. Basically the proof is that Floyd squared up with Shane and took it to him whereas Floyd played a defensive game with Marquez. Even Floyd more or less stated that Marquez was a tougher opponent than Shane.
Hmm? Marquez was knocked down, Mosley wasn't. Mosley hurt Floyd as badly as anyone's seen him hurt, Marquez never made a dent. I think Mosley looked better...Faster and stronger and better, really.
after shane landed big Floyd shut down Shane and made him look old. Shane even made the excuse that he was "tight". Marquez landed throughout the fight against the best boxer in the business. I disagree.
Marquez did better against Floyd than Mosley did, two punches aside, but I still think the extra weight hurt Marquez, he looked bloated and sluggish. In saying that, I'm still interested in a third Pac-Marquez fight because they are closer to each other in size than Marquez and Mayweather were. Since his return, Floyd looks bulkier and stronger than he did before he retired, IMO. His fightnight weight against Marquez was given as 152lbs, but he looked bigger than that to me. Anyway, if Pac weighs in at 144 for a 3rd fight with JMM like he did for the Margo fight, and Marquez weighs 135-140, then Pac rehydrates to 148 and Marquez to around 140-145, it's still advantage Pac but it's reasonably fair. Pac himself faces much, much bigger disadvantages when fighting the likes of Cotto, Margarito, Mosley and Clottey. I hope it does happen, because Marquez cherrypicking a shot fighter like Morales is not what anyone wants to see again. Mosley would stop Marquez in a ww fight though.
Marquez is a tough mother ****er, but he's not produced a better showing than Mosley against Floyd. I would want to see him at 140lbs vs Pacquiao, far more than I'd like Mosley to get the shot. Marquez needs to stay clear of 147lbs, he'd get torn apart by the big 147lbs'ers, even Mosley would wreck him, Cotto would too. As far as the top 140lbs'ers, the top4-5 I think would handily beat him. Stylistically he's posing some problems to Pacquiao, and would make for an interesting bout at 140lbs.
See, Mosley had two rounds against Floyd where he put him in massive trouble then got shut down. Marquez had two okay rounds that the judges could've rationally given him while Floyd was diddledicking around and a version of Floyd that had not fought in about two years. To me, Marquez performed with less success against the lesser version. I do not see how he did better or was more impressive, I'm sorry.
I just want him to show us something first. Is that too much to ask? If he is good enough to beat Pac, he should demolish a guy like Khan. And yea styles make fights but ability is even more important. I'm a bigger Pac fan but still a huge JMM fan. JMM beats Bradley, Khan, or Berto and I'll be happy to se him fight Pac. But right now, Pac vs JMM isn't any more interesting than Pac vs Mosley.
