I think JMM has wasted a lot of his time and strength in staying at 135 for too long, he could have jumped to 140 and prove himself there when Pacquiao was already competing at higher weights. But I guess he & his team wouldn't want to take the risk yet back then, err, they do take the risk against Floyd but after what happened they opted to stay at lw I guess.
WTF is the TS talkin about? I only saw Marquez land one flush punch the whole fight. Guy was only avg 5 punches a rd landed.
you're an idiot. The reason he couldn't walk down Marquez like he did to Mosley is cause Marquez throws straight combinations up the middle, uses feints alot better, doesn't telegraph his punches, and has better stamina. It has nothing to do with wanting to go rounds. Like Roger would say, you don't know **** about boxing
Let's call a spade a spade shall we? JMM was owned by PBF when they fought. It wasn't even close. See judges' scorecards: Burt Clements: 120-107 Bill Lerch: 118-109 Dave Moretti: 119-108
yep. devastating just like drinking pee. hehehe. with his countering skills, he can still be devastating, but his power as we all see greatly diminished above 140. he put up a great fight against floyd, although it's a shutout. Poor floyd didnt even ktfo this featherweight, props to jmm.
The fact that Mayweather was more defensive vs Marquez than he was against Mosley, goes to show you the respect Mayweather had for Marquez' skill level. I keep hearing dumbnuts say that Marquez was outclassed by Mayweather......nut:nut ......being quicker, faster, stronger, and longer is'nt outclassing..... It was'nt skill that was lacking in Marquez against Mayweather, but every physical God given aspect of the game....... Mayweather was much more willing to stand in front and dare Mosley to trade with him, yet when Marquez gestured to Mayweather to bring it, Mayweather did'nt oblige.......thats the thing about Mayweather, its about impossible to throw him off his gameplan. .....and not that Mayweather did'nt try to push the fight vs Marquez, but when he pushed the fight trying to do real damage to Marquez, Mayweather would hold back because Marquez would'nt give him the angle to attack him.....angles that were there all night vs Mosley. Over commiting against a counterpuncher like Marquez means opening yourself to getting hit hard and clean. Bottom line......when you have two fighters facing eachother of equal skill level, if one of those fighters has every physical advantage plus he's quicker, faster and stronger......it does'nt take a boxing analyst to figure out who is going to win that matchup. Let me put it simply......there are two reasons that Marquez may still very well beat Pacquiao even at 147...... 1. Styles, Pacquiao attacks, which is what a counterpuncher wants his opponent doing..... and 2. There is still a wide enough skill advantage Marquez has over Pacquiao that he can make work for himself. Watching the Marquez-Mayweather fight, It was plain as day for me to see that Marquez knew exactly what Mayweather was implementing, and Mayweather knew exactly what Marquez was attempting to do..... There boxing IQ's were on par, but every physical advantage favored the bigger Mayweather which is why we got the result that we did...... I'm not suprised that Mayweather would say that the Marquez fight was a bigger challenge to him than the Mosley fight. ......mentally, the Marquez fight was more taxing on Mayweather than the Mosley fight. Mosley attempted to attack Mayweather the same way every round, skill fighters take apart fighters like that..... Marquez tried every which way and kept Mayweather on his toes and on defense for big chunks of their fight. If a fighter knows exactly whats going to come at him, he does'nt have to be as defensive as he would when he's his opponent is giving him different angles, looks, and variance of intensity. .....thus why Mayweather was standing right in front of Mosley and begging him to come get it. Mayweather knew Mosley attacks the same way everytime. .....as for Marquez' speed at 147 lbs vs Mayweather??? I think I was the only person in this forum who commented right after that Marquez was'nt as slow as everyone here was making him out to be at 147 lbs.....Mayweather's unmatched quickness, his ability to get off first just made it seem like Marquez was slow. ......point blank, and I'm talking about quickness (not speed) there is'nt a fighter around p4p thats in Mayweather's league when it comes to being quick to get off first. ......because of that fact.....people should reserve judgment if Marquez can or cannot hang with the best 140 pounders around.
LMAO one of the biggest BS i've ever read. JMM was actually lucky that he fought Floyd for his 1st WW fight because stylistically Floyd is a type of fighter who is content on outpointing you and not trying to knock you out. Not to mention he has never been a puncher. IF that was Cotto, Margarito, or Mosley who fought the JMM floyd fought he might have been retired by now due to injuries. Yes JMM would have hit other WW's more than he hit floyd but other WW's like the 3 i've mentioned would have walked thru JMM's punches and rag doll his ass. Mayweather didn't really use his size on marquez but you could tell thebig difference in strength. Marquez is ****in LW get real.
if Jmm really wanted a 3rd fight with Pac, he should have moved to TR already. Everybody knows how Arum do his thing.
