It seems that alot of ppl round believe that martinez is slipping that age is catching up to him because he didnt look like his usual self in his last two fights, and its true he didnt look all that good in those bouts but its not because he's fading

The reason is Martinez is at his absolute best when guys pressure him both opponents Macklin and Barker knew this and were smart enough to try and make him come to them which he did and for a while it worked, but in the end his class and power came through.

On september 15th we'll see the Maravilla of old because (A) Chavez isnt smart enough and (b) does'nt have the ability to box intelligently like the previous two martinez opponents did. He'll just walk forward with pressure pressure pressure like he allways does trying to impose his size and strenght on Sergio which is exactley what Martinez wants, it will play right into his hands.

Styles make fights and Chavez's style is tailor made for martinez, So come september 15th we'll see Martinez back at his best and all talks off him slipping will be forgotten

That's what i and nany true real boxing fans think also,i believe about round 9,when chavez face is all bloodied and swollen and then we'll see if he quits or fights untill the ref,doc or roach stops the fight.

The myth that Martinez is a slickster is also a popular one.
Truth is Sergio is a glorified brawler with good speed & agility.
(Reason he can't win close fights)

His power is also a myth, Good power but given Supeman status based on his KO of Wiiliams. (Great KO BTW)

No way is Martinez power overrated. He hit Cintron so hard he tought it was a headbutt and went down for the full ten count, dropped williams in their first fight and ice'd him in the second, Busted Pavlik up worse than anyone else has to the point where he looked like a pizza face, Destroyed Dzinziruk dropping him like 5 times before knocking him out and he'd never been down before am or pro, and then he ko'd macklin and barker

I dont think he'll stop Chavez but he'll rock him enough times to make jr think twice about marching forward mindlessly like he allways does. And when that happens Chavez is totally ****ed

I didn't say he was featherfisted, But he has "Good" power.
He ain't no Julian Jackson tho... That's Power!

That magnificent KO of Willy tho was a fluke.

    bull**** that Sergio's slipping

Macklin and Barker made him work, but Sergio's speed and experience came through in the end, there was no way he was going to lose those fights, even when the first rounds looked decent in Macklin's and Barker's making

I don't think anyone thinks martinez is slipping do they? He's on the best form of his life and hasn't seen the final bell since taking the mw crown.

He's bang in his prime and it's quite obvious to me.

Martinez is slipping a bit, there is no way around it. Father time waits for nobody and catches us all. The question is, has he slipped enough to lose, and has Chavez peaked enough to win?
Its a very interesting question, one that makes this fight a must see. I truly think this is a 50/50 fight at this point, and JR is much more determined than people seem to believe. I think both guys are in for a long night and it should be a definite war and possibly fight of the year. I can see the momentum of the fight shifting throughout. However, I think Chavez is ready for this, and he will win, but it will not be a walk in the park.

Don't understand why people even think he didn't look good in his last 2 fights, he dispatched of two world class, much bigger opponents in devastating fashion.

There's no luck about it, Martinez is p4p no.2/3/4 for a reason. I was just about to list exactly what he's good at but in truth, the list would a lot easier to compile if I was describing the opposite cos he's not weak at anything. He has a recent resume comparable to Froch's.

Well chavez fans would be saying he's in his prime to make a potential victory look better.
