I will just quickly say this about giants and the heavyweight division. When Carnera fought they wanted a DREADNAUGHT division,of course he wasn't equipped to win, neither was Abe Simon(6'6").Galento (5'8"/220lb) who was very slow, clumsy, threw punches horribly, except the hook, did not train well, but yet, beat some good fighters and dropped Louis! In the 1950's they said Marciano (all 5'9"/189 lb) couldn't even compete! yet alone win,a title.WRONG! Oscar Bonavena (5'10"/210lb) as clumsy, slow and unmotivated to train as he was ,was pretty good in the 1970'S,who knows if he trained smarter, and listened to coaches.Joe Frazier(actually UNDER 5'11",(not 5'11.5")/205lb) was quite successful, and even slow clumsy, bad training Ron Stander(5'11") would probably have killed most heavy's at that time in a "phone book" sized ring.Earnie Shavers(6') 210lb,was feared by many and did quite well, but fell in love with his power.Takes us up to the 1980's,by now everyone cannot conceive of a sub 6' heavyweight champ;enter 5'10" 216lb MIKE TYSON(I feel is one of, if not THE greatest). In 1997 Orlin Norris (5'10") 212lb,though dull, defeated many a good heavyweight and if not for Henry Akinwande (6'7")staying at long range, running and Norris's ring rust,he probably would not have scraped a very close decision over Norris.Norris would have been champ! Bert cooper though 5'11" and many personal issues was exciting and feared, almost knocking out Holyfield to become the new champ.I think it is difficult for men under 6' to comfortably carry 220lb and have the genetics to be champ.I do feel however you will see a sub 6' footer again rule in the future. mike perez (6'0") is fighting today, lets watch and follow him.
