I find it funny people are shitting on a legend.

If Manny retired tonight too, Barrera would historically be the better fighter. Remember that, his legacy is tremendous, he's a first ballot hall of famer, he engaged the **** outta Erik Morales, imo tapping that ass 3 times in 3 entertaining fights, schooled Hamed, gave us a great fight against Juarez the first time and Marquez.

Honestly, you all sound like bitter children.

I was dissapointed in Barrera as well. He fought well but it did look like he fought to give a good account of himself and not to win, he should have given his all in the last two rounds and he did nothing.

I agree with all of this, except for the line I highlighted. I am not sure he'd be regarded as the better fighter, it's debatable.

I'd like Manny to get in the ring with Guzman as I feel Guzman would defeat him, this would definitley sort out the Pacquaio stance a bit more so. I feel Manny would beat JMM at this point and the others at 130, but for some reason Guzman just strikes me as the one to beat him.

I am also afraid that Soto is a bad style for Guzman, we'll have to see how that fight plays out.

He's still a legend as far as I'm concerned. I didn't get the PPV but it doesn't change my opinion of him. He's also been fighting for damn near 18 years. To say he's got wear and tear would be an understatement. Stupid thread. Barrera's a man's man.

I agree. Barrera fought competitively for 6 rounds.
I had the fight even at three rounds a piece after 6 rounds......but as most would have predicted, Barrera lost steam, was non-competitive, and just plain fought to cross the finish line.
I had Barrera losing the last 6 rounds.

    I wish I could say that I respected Barrera's effort, but I did'nt.
Barrera was clearly behind going into the final rounds, and he did'nt give the effort to win any of them.

Somebody mentioned earlier about this fight being similar to Jones being happy to just go the distance vs Tarver in the third fight.....and thats exaclty what it is.
It came from Barrera's mouth himself, he said, "I proved the experts wrong who said I would get blown out by Pacquiao."

I'm not going to put to much weight on Barrera's survival tactics in the twighlight of his career, but I'm used to seeing great fighters fight to win.
I much would have respected Marco putting fourth a better effort, having gotten busted up, and retiring on his stool.....at least in that situation, you know you laid it on the line but could feel content with the effort despite coming up short.

No question about it, Barrera did'nt earn his money tonight, he did'nt put fourth a full effort!

People should not forget that Marco was in the fight until he began to tire. He just doesn't have the steam anymore to compete for 12 rounds with a guy like Manny. He still fought back, but why would anyone boxer try to outslug a slugger. That is just plain stupid and guys on this website are stupid to be upset because MAB didn't try to slug it out with Pac. That like asking Ali to slug it out with Tyson. Who do you think would win this. Give the guy a ****ing break. He's past his prime and on the way out.

I commented on him being a sore looser before this fight, especially after he lost to Juan Manuel Marquez. The fact that he denied hitting JMM while his glove was on the canvas and made up some lie and then said he clearly won the fight that he was shocked. Never gives credit to anyone. No surprise why Erik Morales can't stand him.
