I might be wrong here, but isn't Whyte a *promotional* freelance? As in - Whyte has every right to fight on a PBC, Top Rank, Boxxer, or Queensberry card if he wishes, but his broadcast rights would be aligned to the promoter whose card he is on. So if he's on a Matchroom card, he's with Matchroom's broadcaster. But, unlike Sky, DAZN will waive their rights if it blocks a matchup.
Think his deal with BT is only that they get first refusal for his fights? In the build up to the second Wilder fight I’m sure SKY made an offer? But BT matched it and therefore got the fight? Yeah. Just read it here - This content is protected I think Fury only has the 1 fight left with Top Rank too?
I thought that was because the fight was in the US so sky could bid for the international rights but in the UK Fury is tied to BT under Warren's deal with the network?
LIttle side note but Eddeh has said the undercard for Parker v Chisora will 'blow your mind' ... should be comical.
This content is protected I made this thread years ago when I said that all of the numbers Hearn was rambling on about never made sense and that DAZN PPVs were inevitable. You didn’t need to be some sort of financial whizz with knowledge of broadcasting business to understand that the original fantasy numbers chucked out by DAZN were never going to stack up. First it was “DAZN is here to stay at a low price”. Then they raised their subscription prices as predicted. Then it was “DAZN means no PPV”. It’s all a huge scam. Do not pay to watch any sport on tv or a smart device. It’s that simple. Spend money on yourself and your family. Don’t make puddings like Chisora millionaires.
Some gems from that thread: It’s funny reading that thread back actually. I was ridiculed by the usual suspects.
The PPV Loot accumulated by some of those puddings is incredible - even Paint Dry Parker has had a few bags of loot in the UK and plenty back in New Zealand. This cohort of PPV Mugths need professional help - bit like Paul Merson with his gambling, they are the biggest suckers around and cannot help themselves.
He also said that Canelo was a drug cheat and now caresses Canelo’s balls whilst proclaiming him a boxing god.
Waiting on @Mitch87 and @bbjc coming in to say that "these fights wouldn't happen without PPV". Totally agree, by the way.
I remember him saying he would never work with a drug user. Happily worked with Ortiz and Povetkin not long after. But let's get real - the guy is promoting Anthony Joshua ffs. It's the same as Dana White saying that "in this day and age you'd have to be an idiot to be on steroids". It's utterly laughable and only idiots who believe in Santa will believe that.
