Roughly about 8 yrs....since his trip to the US under Roach's guidence Manny has been dominating while seeking bigger and riskier challenges. I don't think anyone else has really came close to his resume in this era.
Wlad Klitschko has dominated heavyweight boxing for over 5 years and has fought the best of his era. He makes all his foes look pathetic and rarely loses a round let alone a fight. He has an incredible number of boxing defenses of number 1 and top rated guys and dispatches them with ease. People discredit and underate him due to his skin pigmentation and his eastern-european roots together with his relunctance to trash talk his opponents and his down to earth personality. Prior to his present reign of terror, in his very early twenties, he won and defended the WBO title multiple times. He has been either the champion or a number 1 heavweight contender for well over a decade and he is still in his prime. The level of hatred and derision directed at this great champion is proof of his greatness and dominance over the last decade. As the great Larry Holmes once said, "People hate successful people. Look at Ronald Reagan. Before he was president everybody loved the guy. Now that he won and is the president everybody is talking **** about him."
Solid list! Vasyl has all the talent for such greatness. Whether he can get into the right position as an Eastern European and lack of one punch KO power is another question though. I'd throw in Frankie Gomez, also, Yordenis Ugas has some great tools too and in a good age compared to other Cuban amateur standouts such as the superb Rigondeaux, but his chin might let him down. Why I wouldn't predict (though I'd love to throw out Alexander's name who IMO has tremendous potential), is because greatness often fly under the radar before shows up with the heavy artillery. Think where Pacquiao and Hopkins was in 2000 and where are they now, nobody predicted anything like this. Who knows which street kid or "okay" fighter will kick the door in and say thank you very much, but I'm all in.
I envision Tavoris Cloud fighting 5 times in the next 10 years and winning all 5 times!!! Ok, realistically I'd pick Gamboa if I had to pick one.
