lol at "fans". You hear that all the time at gyms across the Nation from old guys. Ill make it simple for those that don't compete.

It's like the old video games. They seem better because they were part of your generation.

I will say this boxing today is like the old WWF shows when you had a star vs a jobber !! Every now and then you get a good match ! But let today's fan tell you otherwise !

How are you going to compare it to old video games and nostalgia?

Boxing used to have one world title that everyone competed for and the champ made the most money. Fast forward to today, you have many titles and pay based on popularity which in the end is dictated by hype.

There is one very easy way for name fighters to make fights happen, fight for a ranking to become the number one contender and challenge for the title. How many times do you see this happen?

There aren't enough fights between contenders and beltholders, and it's a huge problem. It's not just the thread starter. It makes it hard for the sport to sustain any momentum and it's nearly impossible to get a gauge on just how good guys are when great fights happen as rarely as they do.

I think we are constantly disappointed by these prospects with too much promotional backing early on. Ortiz, Jacobs, etc. get stopped and leave us wanting. The more successful fighters, while exciting, lack the technical discipline of their predecessors. Lopez, for example, one of the most exciting prospects in his division, lacks a decent defense. It might be that I'm picky, but I can't get behind an incomplete fighter unless they have a very worthy redeeming quality. It might be that I'm impatient as my old favorites wither and these young lions are somewhat unproven, but the newer fighters intrigue me a little less.

Fighters today are carefully managed ,Most promoters nowadays love to milk there fighters before they throw them in with a viable challenge ..This is why the sports is suffering ..It also doesn't help that the heavy weight division is complete trash ! The once well respected division has been reduced to a side show !
