My top 10 1. Manny Pacquaio 2. Joe Calzaghe 3. Juan Manuel Marquez 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Paul Williams 6. Antonio Margarito 7. Israel Vasquez 8. Ivan Calderon 9. Miguel Cotto 10. Chad Dawson Miguel Cotto stays in because he is a champion in 2 weight classes. Hatton has shown to be only effective at 140, he hasnt shown any inclination that he would have any sort of career above 147. Chad Dawson makes the list because he has shown great ability in the ring and has beaten 3 good highly renowned fighters at light heavyweight. JMM should not be ranked ahead of Calzaghe by any stretch of the imagination.
Come on now, that would not be a fair assessment. Hatton has trouble at 147 and like I said earlier, he is dominating the 140 class. Has Williams done that as far as dominating any division? Let him unify the 154 division. I don't think he can possibly come back down to 147 comfortably and go twelve rounds with Margarito at this point.
Hatton at about 20, an that being fair,,,,140 is not a top 5 division,,,,hatton got on this list by beating tyzu almost four years ago. He didn't deserve it then, he does not deserve it now
Why is it that you have to move up one, two or even three divisions to be rated P4P? So Cotto lost one fight. Let's see, if he comes back and beats Margarito convincingly, then he is hailed as the new P4P top fighter? Example; if Duran never moved up in weight to fight SRL and stayed at 135 and dominated until he retired, he would not be a P4P great. I love when fighters move up, but I like to see them unify or dominate some of the divisions they fight through.
He's beaten Malignaggi. Who else has he beat? He hasnt beaten Torres, Bradley, Witter, Holt? He's beaten alot of good fighters at 140, he's hardly cleaned it out. Meanwhile, Paul Williams has beaten Margarito who is considered for some strange reason the best at 147 and Quitana. And has ventured out of 147 and had success at 154 and will probably be a champion at 154 by Sunday morning. I think he beats Margarito easier in a 2nd bout. If a green Paul Williams won 8-9 rounds against Margo in the first fight, who says he'd do any worse?
Cotto, Williams, Hopkins, Calzaghe for a start are not fighters with true careers at multiple weights. Joe Calzaghe, P4P no3, beat Hopkins who is a career middle weight, and a totally shot Jones at LH - wow! Hatton won a recognised belt at 147, and has a career at 140. Like Hatton, Cotto can't cut it against the big guys at 147, and Cotto won't cut it losing weight and fighting at 140 now either. Hatton would beat a skeleton version of Cotto. Margo would get beat by the best middles (as would Paul Williams), and has spent his time at 147. When you look at it the argument really is just a reason to rip into Hatton - many others on the list hardly have extensive careers at other weights. Hatton got outclassed by an ATG, and the P4P no1 at 147 that doesn't bean he would fail against everyone there - he's already won a strap at 147.
Hatton for now is going after the money with Oscar. I mentioned this before that he beat the best at 140 and then decided to fight Collazo and then he returned to take Urango's belt and then he loses to PBF. What I am getting at is alot of time has elapseed with Hatton going after PBF and others like Lazcano when he should be fighting the fighters you have mentioned above. Those fighters you have mentioned cannot wait and will keep fighting and now Hatton took the time to fight one of them and look what he did. Torres, Bradley, Holt will not beat him. Maybe a Ortiz or Peterson will after more wasted time. He is after the money not the title which is a shame for us fans.
Witter will run once Hatton starts to beat on him like he did with Paulie. It will turn into a Witter vs Zab fight all over again.
I'm glad to see the Ring coming to its senses although there is still clearly a Latino bias. Williams should have never been on there. Paid his dues? How, by cherry picking tomato cans like Kolle? The kid has potential but he hasn't proven anything except that he can outwork and survive 12 rounds against Margarito at 147, a fighter that comes straight in and stands right in front of him. The guy's never even succesfully defended a title. Hatton's beaten numerous title holders, has had numerous defenses, is a two weight champion, made Kostya Tsyu quit, and his only loss was against the #1 p4p fighter in the world. If Cotto stays on this list after losing to Margarito, there's no reason why Hatton shouldn't have stayed on the list too.
What about Calderon. Who has he beaten? Didn't Raf lose his last 2 fights. You mean Hatton can beat Malignaggi and get ranked back in the top 10 pfp just in case Dlh beats PAc or PAc beats Dlh. Why did PAv fall out of the top 10 pfp. Didn't Williams beat Margarito. Ring mag can kiss my ass...
It's one thing to say what you say then another to look at the facts. He moved up and won a belt at 147, and then lost to ATG, undefeated, p4p no1 Floyd Mayweather. He then domintated the no1 ranked contender at 140 - yea terrible.
Bull****. Complete Bull****. My question is.. Why is Cotto still up there? HE got pulverized and hasn't fought since. Since that time williams has knocked a middle-weight out cold and is signed to fight a 154 champion. Buncha Bull****!
