Yup. I think he has mad skills, I love watching him fight. But P4P needs to be based on achievements and resume as well.

This is the messiest I can remember the pound for pound situation being. Real phase of transition. You could make a case for fighters who haven't really made their bones yet being quite high, and you could also make a case for some really quite older fighters being on it...interesting times.

So, let me get this straight. People are putting Hopkins and Mosley on their P4P lists. Hopkins who has gone 5-3 in the last 5 years. And of those wins, only Tarver was half decent and in his own weight class. Mosley? Come on. He was excellent (but still not good enough to beat Forrest or Wright), but is faded. his win over Margo was the old "pull out one last good fight" from a vet. but guys like Chris John, (43-0-2) - yeah, I'm aware he got a gift against JMM, Vic Darchinyan 34-2, won at fly and superfly, and lost in a shot at bantam are nowhere near it? I see a lot of guys with Hopkins and Mosley ini, but no JMM??? Forget the Mayweather fight. He's a lightweight that fought at welter for that fight, where Mayweather just couldn't even be ****ed making the agreed weight. That was obviously just a payday. He lost a dodgy SD to Pac, and apart form that has been awesome. but even that's not enough to rate higher than those blokes???
1. Pac - Pac's no.1 status was never in danger sat night. In the last 2 years he has had 5 great victories in Diaz, DLH, Hatton, Cotto & Clottey, in everyone of those fights except Clottey, the odds were closer than PBF-Mosley was. 2. Floyd - After last night he closed the gap a bit, but it still doesnt change the fact that its 2 vs 4 victories over the past 3 years and if we are to compare all through their careers, Pac still came out on top. Fault Floyd for retiring, he is playing catchup, the only way he catches up is if he fights more often then Pac and eventually catches up, he beats Pac or Pac looses. 3. Williams 4. Wlad 5. Bradley 6. Martinez 7. Donaire 8. Dawson 9. Marquez - Only under the assumption that he's back at 135 and I think he still dominates there. 10. Mosley - For the reason that I think he still beats all WW's not named Pac/Floyd. Whoever wins the super 6 automatically takes the no.3 spot.
I agree with people who question whether Hopkins should still be there. I think P4P status should be awarded to people who are the best P4P boxers right now. To that end, I think they should only be judged based on their most recent five fights or two years, whichever is a smaller window. This would make sure "honorary" fighters who are still on the list only because they don't fight anymore (Hopkins) are removed. I've put JMM in stasis on my list because he hasn't fought at his weight in well over a year, making it impossible to determine what he has left. I'm not inclined to have him very high, however. Not because of the Mayweather fight, but because of the first Diaz fight. Marquez was losing that fight, and Diaz isn't anywhere near anybody's P4P list, but managed to take advantage of Diaz' questionable chin. Minus the knockout, Paulie Malignaggi had a better performance in their second fight than Marquez. That concerns me. But I'll know what to do with him after the rematch with Diaz. Mosley, I'm on the fence with. I think to an extent he made his name during his second tenure at welterweight on beating Margarito. Prior to that, his only impressive win at welter was against Collazo, who is not the stuff of which P4P fighters build their resume. I don't think he deserved his outrageous placement as a top 5 P4P when your most recent fights were two competitive fights against a fighter on his last legs (Vargas), another competitive fight against a fighter who nobody takes seriously (Mayorga), a dominanting win against a second tier welterweight (Collazo), a close loss against a top welterweight (but still a loss), and a single huge victory against the lineal champ. It makes you deservedly one of the top 3 in the division - but definitely not P4P. Because there's no shame in losing to Mayweather, I don't penalize Mosley or call him shot or anything like that. Before the fight I think Mosley deserved to be maybe between 10-15 P4P, and I think he stays there after this fight. Whether he drops depends on what happens in his next fight (if there is one).
How did you score it? I had it very close. Ring was the only member of the Western press at the stadium and they had it for John.
