Ok brother relax. I stick up for Billy because I like him. He respects me as a person and is a good boxer. Billy is young mentally and like all young fighters today has that smart arse way about him. I honestly believe he will be world champion one day if he stays at super bantam which is his right weight. There is certain fighters I am not wrapped in. One comes from Perth.
Geez Sox, that's a fair contradiction, when you state you agree with Stifler's Mum who openly call's Billy, a Leb, a Muslim and a tool? Funny how people state "their not racist" or claim the "race card as being weak" yet their first words in an argument will be, "****ing lebo's or ****ing muslim's". Funny, we don't hear people saying about Danny Green when they bag him "****ing white anglo-saxon or ****ing Catholic". Billy Dib is a great young man, who by his own admission has let himself down with a few things in the past, but at 24 years of age, I defy the whole lot of you keyboard experts on here who hasn't and is focused on fulfiling his potential which I think we would all agree is above average compared to a lot of young fighters we have here in Autralia. Fact - Billy is AUSTRALIAN, born and bred. He comes from a great family and epitomises the great multi-cultural society we live in. He had the chance to represent Lebanon (who were rolling out the red carpet for him!) at the Olympics after mising the Australian trials due to an accident but said no as Australia is his home. He's focused in the gym, finished 2009 with some great fights. 2010 started fantastic with a 6th rd KO victory (brutal body shot) and has a tough fight coming up on April 8th on FoxSports and plans in place for some exciting bouts here in Sydney, mid-year. He does do a lot of work charity wise and yes, like Ash said, was first over to a stricken Wilie Kickett, along with trainer Billy Hussein to make sure he was ok, a point of which I know Craig Christian, Willie's trainer respected big time. (as should a lot of people) Love/Hate is boxing, but hate on him (if you must) for boxing, not the race or religion card which bear no relevance. I placed the link on here as it's exciting to see opportunities for boxing and Billy being exposed to a wider audience through video clips with up and coming Australian music talent. 'Experts' on here whinge about the boxing industry not getting enough exposure, yet when good things like this are exposed, all you want to do is come out and bag.
Say what? Stifflers mums usage of that was an example of how saying that isn't bringing race into it. Re-read what he wrote, the entire sentence, carefully. You have no idea what you're talking about. I quite commonly say things like that openly, in jest, in company I know. I'm a box head, so I'm sure you have an idea of what I might get at times. I also call my self a ****en box head. To say something like that, and to actually be racist, are two very different things. Yep, and it's any ones prerogative to compliment, bag, criticise whoever and whenever they want. I'm not big on Billy, it has nothing to do with what race he is. Get over it. I'm not big on plenty of people, and it also has nothing to do with race. I may be a lot of things, but I'm not racist.
Sox, I don't want to debate back an forth on an issue that is a.) very close to me and b.) I enjoy the forum's for good boxing debate, not racial and religion issues. I have no issue you 'hating' on Billy, as I said that's boxing. Politely put though, I'm sure you and I agree to disagree. :good
Sounds fair to me. :good For the record though, I certainly don't hate Billy. I'm just not big on him.
Well Sox I know you are angry but all that matters is I like you. And I heard Choc is big on you also. Just dont throw anything about race at me. My running days are over.
The only thing I'll say Stifler is similiar to Sox, by all means 'hate' on whoever you wish, but the more you say, the more your making yourself look like a tool.
No anger from me, just wanted to make it clear that if I like or dislike someone it isn't to do with race. Ok. :good
Dibb is fast but has no heart or chin, the only way he will be a world champ is if he fights for an easy beat IBO title.
Going back to the original point - i think it's a great video clip. Good to see the old team back Contendo. Billy will always have his detractors (this thread highlights it). It was quickly downgraded into a few people with an opinion about Billy and his background. There are a number of things that Billy has acknowledged he has made mistakes with, but the reality is, he could do anything and certain forum members will always find a way to knock him down. You see, for all of the good stuff Billy might do, there are always those who practice that great Aussie sport of 'cutting tall poppies'. Contendo, as his manager, you know him best. let him know that there are people who recognise his talents and positive role modelling with a lot of the young guys he helps on the quiet. He should not be bothered by the small number of 'experts' on a forum who only see him as a stereotype and then say "I'm not racist". He will conrinue to rise, and I for one am looking forward to seeing more of him and wish him all of the best. If he does his best, no one has the right to ask for any more. Go Billy! - Bring it On
