Itauma has possibly reached fringe contender level now IMO. Lets exercise caution though, and wait and see how things develop before we hype up someone, whoever that may be - that hasn't proven anything. Its much more mature rather than jumping on the bandwagon until they lose and lose all 'hype' and as a result proven as a hype job.
He's never been dogged or chin checked at a decent level. Not even in the amateurs. The way people talk about him currently just shows how far hype can get you.
Looks fantastic. Amazing. Seems to have all the offensive tools you could wish for. Three things need to be checked imo. Chin. Gas tank. Mentality. First two speak for themselves, for the last one I want to see how he does when things aren't going his way. How does he respond to someone he can't budge or land cleanly on. Will he get discouraged or wilt under pressure? Wardley is a good example of someone who showed the will and headspace to continue when things weren't going his way against Huni. I'd love to see something similar from Itauma. If he can tick those three boxes for me he'll get talked about in rarified air for a looooong time imo
