Apparently, he only managed an eight round decision against Julius Long.

At six feet, he weighed in for this fight at 253 (!) pounds. Ask yourself honestly- when ws the last time you saw a developing weight problem reverse itself? And this is only dude's, what, fifth fight?

the only thinkg Solis is going to KO is an extra large pizza, and once again, we, the fans, are condemned to another heavyweight wash out.

    disgraceful.

I am not too impressed by Solis thus far. Sure he's being moved along at a quicker than usual pace, but he is most effective as a boxer. And with the weight he has put on, he is not going to be to be able to perform at the highest level he can. I don't think he's a big puncher, but that would be fine if he would get himself down to 225-230.

He weighed 247, he was 258 in his debut, his weight has gone down continuously.
Tall stiff Long was exactly the opposite of the opponent he had trained for (Botha).

He will certainly excel Sam Peter who weighed the same (230) as an amateur then ballooned.

Wasn't a pretty fight, Long did everything to make it a snoozer. But the problem is that Harrison and Peter could put on enough pressure to finish the fight but Solis couldn't. He needs to drop at least 20 pounds. He'll still be a little man in the division but with the speed, work rate and footwork of his amateur days he could do big things. We just hope that he will visit the gym more often then Gomez...

Not to impressed with Solis. His weight has ballooned since turning pro.He showed some promise as an AM but not the kind of skills to be a permanent fixture in the heavy top 10. 250lbs isnt acceptable for a man who is 6ft.

i seriously doubt that. peter was alot younger than solis when he put on the weight.

and he has natural punching power. he put away long in one round.

solis hit him FLUSH several times and didnt even hurt him!!!

unless solis loses 20 to 30 pounds he isnt going anywhere.

looks like he will be another cuban flop.

The Cubans are strange. There infamous for producing GREAT Am`s.But very rarely have these skills translated to the pro ranks.May be its because pro boxing is banned in there coutry?

I don't doubt it at all. Solis is a much better boxer than Peter who has won nothing at the amateurs, Solis has won six times in six major competitions and has stopped Islam Timurziev. He is a good puncher, the points win over a sorry bum like Long is of course very disappointing, so is his weight but I wouldn't overvalue that. His best weight should be around 230 or so, he is gradually coming down in weight, he had no problems so far beating the guys he faced.

The foto comparison is misleading, the left shows him at 201lbs at the Olympics.
He did win the world championships at superheavy later too, weighing 230lbs.

he failed to impress me yesterday. going the distance with long when you're hailed as the next hw champ is not going to do him well. to those who think he is already a threat to wlad, he is not. maybe in three years it would be a competitive fight but first he needs to change his lazy attitude and put together some decent wins.
