Another vote for Darren Barker - never needed to get out of 3rd gear so far in his career. Great boxer only lacking top class power.

His career delayed by family bereavement and his promoter being pre-occupied by Froch!

I thought I give this one a bump since the division is getting a lot of attention due to the change of guard.

The division is loaded with talent. Just a year ago you could've put Korobov among the 3 best prospects at 160, now the way his career is moving, he's not even in my top5, N'Dam N'Jikam, Jacobs, Golovkin, Pirog, Lemieux and even Guerrero look hotter than him at the moment. These guys are gonna beat each others up for years, but which one will have Maravilla's number?

That statement kind of baffles me.

If you're talking about resume's it doesn't make sense cuz none of those guys were brought along any faster. Korobov has fought roughly the same level as opposition as all of the guys you named in their first 10 fights.

If you're talking about how he has looked that's obviously subjective but for me in his last 3 or 4 fights he's looked just as good as he always has.

I'm most sold on N'jikam, Korobov, Golovkin at this point.

The thing is...

HALF of that list OR MORE will grow into 168 (or even 175) as they mature.

Korobov, N'jikam, Golovkin, Pirog, Lee are all 25 or over......not much filling out left to do. Guerrero and Jacobs are 22/23 and Guerrero is only 5'9. So not really.

I have a feeling matt korobov wont be everything top rank hope he will be in the pros. Matt for me doesnt have world class power and he is very easy hit. Dmitry pirog will be the best russian middle weight out of the two for me.

Lemieux made a big statement Friday night knocking the usually durable Elvin Ayala out in just one short round. They're moving David smart and step by step, so I don't expect him to have a world title try inside 12 months, but he's getting there. He's got very good boxing skills and awesome power, and it is time to get someone really durable to go full 12 and see how his conditioning and late-fight adaptation going, Lajuan Simon or someone of his caliber should do the trick. Another good step-up would be Brian Vera who just knocked out Demers.

power - it's looked good so far but his compitition isn't much. He certianly has pop but whether or not he has true 1 punch power vs top guys remains to be seen, i agree.

easy to hit............lol

Hopefully we'll see two top prospects H2H next month;

http://www.boxingnews24.com/2010/06/daniel-jacobs-vs-dmitry-pirog-on-july-31st/

Apparently, knowing anything about boxing isn't required to write for that site. The author compares Pirog to Yuri Foreman- "Pirog has very little power and is someone that likes to move a lot and throw lots of jabs. He’s somewhat similar to the light-hitting Yuri Foreman."

The only things Pirog and Foreman have in common is that they're both white and were born in the USSR. Pirog rarely commits to the jab, usually using it as a range finder. He often leads with a right or a left hook to the body. He applies constant pressure and definitely has power. The only fighters to go the distance w/ Pirog were Tatevosyan (his 31st fight, Pirog's 4th!), who went the distance with champs Bute and Karmazin. Ajetkovic, who has never been stopped in his career. And former title contender Jantuah, who went the distance with Abraham.

Pirog's KO%=81.25
Foreman's KO%=26.67

This should be a great matchup, the contrast in styles should make for a good fight.

Lemiuex is a very good puncher but you guys are all exaggerating on his boxing skills, doesnt look that impressive in that department.

James Kirkland would most likely also move up to Middleweight when he gets out

Funny thing that i read today about Lemieux when he fought Naugler!

After the fight Naugler ask to be taken in picture with Lemieux because he's sure that David will be world champion !

In terms of his amateur fight with dirrell. Golovkin was getting points for shots which were not landing. He won the fight but not by that wide a margin. Dirrell used the wrong tactics though and should have used his hand and footspeed more.
