Grandpa was and still is one of the most technical gifted boxers in the history of the sport. If anything Pavlik shpould have learned from that defeat to become better but i'm worried his personal problems have affected his form. The one thing IMHO that seperates these prospects from genuine contenders is punch resistance.Very few cam excel without a solid chin and i doubt any of these upstarts have been hit with world class power. When i see some of them go into the trenches and emerge victorious then i let you know who i think can beat Pavlik.

Hes not ready for macklin, andy cant deal with pressure fighters yet so fighting macklin would be stupid even i do think andy is far more talented he just cant deal with constant pressure yet...

He has more than a few i'm afraid.I think his improvement has slowed dramatically. He has become too cautious (something similar to what Duddy had been doing before his last fight).Spending so much time working on defense instead of taking the other guy out.
His defense is not as bad as Duddy's but he can't absorb the same punishment that Duddy can take.I'm not sure if he will ever make it.

Thats all macklin is a pressure fighter with decent power in both hands, a quality boxer like say pirog beats him to a UD easily.

you are probably right but if i was betting on the fight id side with macklin just that hes proved himself to be a good fighter, the american middles im not sold on, jacobs and gurrero will have to improve if they are gonna overtak epavlik

good point, pavlik is a hard puncher with a good chin, that im not denying. he's just shown in the past he strugles with good boxers. despite of the fact that he beat taylor, taylor still gave him a beating. but you are right about the whole punch resistance thing. these prospects never had their chin tested nor have they've been in a situation where they've been taken out of their comfort zone. i just see the potential they possess. and should they mold into world class contenders, then pavlik would be in trouble.

Here's something to think about when you consider where some of these prospects/contenders might be a year from now. From Pavlik/McKart to Pavlik/Miranda a mere ten months passed.

Exactly, this is the fight i watched.Saying that if the frog opened up early Lee would probably have KOed him but for Lee to gas again after 8 or 9 rounds is very worrysome - just poor stamina (and bad defense)

I get your point that some of them certainly have the tools to beat Pavlik.I suppose my point is that these prospects are like college players. They all have the ability to suceed but when they reach the big stage only a handful pan out
