I have only seen his fight against Kaufman, but if he is the best we have to offer then the US is doomed for a long time at Heavy.
Well, he did beat Brown in the rematch, wide on all scorecards. He was rumored for a while to be Tyson's "comeback" opponent. :-( Currently, he is Vitali Klitschko's chief sparring partner in preparation for Albert Sosnwoski (who is the same size).
So many non-sequitur mentions of Wilder. This is a very unfortunately titled thread. It's ostensibly about Grano, but nobody's going to take him seriously as "the next great American heavyweight". It's sort of like how a thread about John Duddy is all well and good, and won't attract too much hate, but a thread about John Duddy with the title "the future unified Middleweight king!" would. People respond to titles, moreso than thread content. They also get up in arms at anything that even smells faintly of hype. TNT is not the next great American heavyweight, he's a fun blood-and-guts domestic-level or low-end-World-level fighter (like Duddy). I had considered making a new thread with a simpler title (like "Tony Grano update") - perhaps my instincts were right. :think
Ghost45, I can read between the lines, judging by your original post, that the title is meant more as a harmless open-ended question (it really should have had a "?" tacked on the end). It might behoove you to edit the title to something that's a bit less of a lightning rod for people's ire. Otherwise the topic will remain unfocused and ugly.
