The next great heavyweight might be emerging in the amateurs right now!

That's right, you heard me. A 23 year old kid from Russia has dethroned world amateur champion and Olympic champion Roberto Cammarelle. Cammarelle's last loss was on points in 2007.

Cammarelle was very dominant at super heavy. He was beaten by Russia's Sergey Kuzmin in the European amateur champions. I will catch the viewing later, but word is Kuzmin has speed, power and skills.

I follow the amateur game pretty closely. Cammarelle is excellent. This win here signals there might be a future star in the making.

If he becomes the next dominant heavyweight champion, then I will remember that I heard it here first.

    Interested now?

Understand this, I think Cammarelle is a professional amateur, and at his peak which is now, was better than the Wlad at 20 who won the Olympic gold medal. This 23 year old has to be something to defeat him 6-3 on points.

I will have to catch it myself.

HA! You should have been there in 1997 when I mentioned the Klitschko's are going to rule the division, and herds of nay sayers who in most cases never saw them fight said no way.

Not saying this kid is it, but based on this result, he sure as heck can be. Russian heavies go pro these days. I'm still disappointed that Cammarelle wants to stay an amateur.

Except Vitali never panned out to be a "Great" heavyweight. Vitali also never ruled anything.. You were right about Wlad though. Wlad is the ruler. Wladimir I think will become a great heavyweight soon. Wladimir is unbelievable. Very Technical, a two fisted assasin with one punch power in boths fists, an ATG jab, Top notch defense, and scores the highest marks in athleticism/strength.

In order to prove yourself great, you've got to be in a WAR. Vitali has been in one. Wlad hasn't.

And why the hell didn't Cammarelle turn pro after the Olympics?
