Ireland won the first gold Paddy Barnes at 48 kg.

 

I've never seen Kuzmin fight, and I'm not doubting Mendoza's claim that he may be spectacular... But I for one, place very little stock in amateur fighters.. Some of the greatest amateurs ever, have either fizzled in the pros, or never even went pro at all... Therefore, I will have to revisit this subject in about 6 or 7 years.

 

I'm downloading all the fights as I'm doing a write-up for it.

Cammarelle is very impressive especially in the Olympics, so him losing is a very big upset so cant wait to see this.

Not sure if it will show this kiddo though, probably just the Brits.

I recall that, Lewis was still ruleing the divsion, think it was shortly after the Holyfiled fights or in between about.

 

Around the time both Klits were trying to get Chris Byrd out of the picture in their quest to hang on to the crap WBO strap you mean?

It took 2 of them to get rid of a man that Lewis couldn't even be bothered to fight, same goes for Corrie Sanders

As I already pointed out, even I said that the brothers would most likely rule the division once Lewis was out of the way, and I'm no Klitschko fan.

 

The Kilts were no Lewis, and no man stays young forever, unless they die like James Dean.


I was not sure if the Kilts would have rule the divison or not at the time, We had Grant, Tua, Byrd, Ike, A certain Pole was ducking it out with Bowe, All of them look like they could have been the next big thing, At the time, I think I had my money on Grant or Tua about.

I was thinking Grant was going win the crown vs Lewis lol. Of couse Lewis crush Grant in 5 rounds, and Grant never came to full fill what I thought he was going to be, rule the Divison after Lewis's departed.

Tua lost to Lewis, and never seem to have that fired after that.
Golota got poleax in 1 round.

As for Byrd, I never thought he would have been the man after Lewis. So yeah I am kinda of shock to see them rule like they are doing now.

 

Why hasnt Cammaralle gone pro? Hes been in the amatuers too long. I know he has fouht in at least 2 olympics. It would be nice to see an Italian heavyweight on top for a change. Last good one i can think of was Damiani, who was a great amatuer but didnt have the punch,or heart to be a real force in the pros.
