Broner did a good job of imitating Void, he went to jail, got into lots of trouble........................beat up women, etc.

I actually agree, a villain makes people wanna watch. A villain that keeps winning
and dominating is a money maker and big attraction. There are none currently.
The Charlos could, they both are physical specimens with chips on their shoulders
but they aren't marketed properly. Adonis would make a great villain as well but
he's long in the tooth and not active.

For a moment there, it looked like Broner could have gone further than Floyd (in terms of popularity). Or get there faster than Floyd did.
But then Maidana did a number on him.

I assume the biggest name in boxing will return to the HW division but who knows maybe Mayweather was a taste of the future not an anomaly. It is interesting to watch play out.

I can see it being Loma or Bud but I lean heavily toward the HWs.

People always want the "next XYZ". The next Ali, the next Floyd, the next Tyson. There won't ever be one. There will be completely new, great boxers. But not a carbon copy of a past great.

"Boxing is rated on par with WWE"?

Boxing is far behind WWE as a global entertainment brand.

"Go watch WWE if you need silly antics".

I don't want silly antics, i want big fights.

It's harder to attract big fights without big money.....you only generate big money through big personalities.

The reason Wilder can't get a fight with Joshua, unless on Joshua's terms, is because the guy doesn't generate enough money.

Eddie Hearn is actually a perfect example of how growth in the sport can be achieved by having this 'love to hate' movement towards a key figure within the sport.
People dislike the guy, but he's been the most successful promoter over the last 5 years.

    But saying this for years!
And I hate it when boxers say it in interviews too! Just be the first whoever you are and be greater than your past counterparts. Just like Mike Tyson said, fighters get better with each generation, not worse, something along those lines.

Always some exceptions but fighters should be who they are...
