The next Prizefighter tournament - the best yet?

I do like the prizefighter events. Ok they are abit **** but the set up can be entertaining aslong as they include the right fighters. The cruiserweight show was good because it had guys clearly on thier last legs who just wanted to have a punch up for money. The lightweight show in Scotland was awful, ok domestic fiighters but only a couple of KO's between all 8 fighters, the show should have had Gomez, Reid (who was wasted as a stand by) and any other fighter with a good wack or no chin.




Maybe somebody should do one just full of those awful afrobums the promoters keep importing.

 

You could change the concept by having two four man tourneys on the same night, with the heats over four rounds and the final over six.

Also, guaranteeing something other than a £25k prize might help.... perhaps if you had a £10k prize for the winner, plus a guaranteed British or maybe English title shot... the runner up gets a choice of a Commonwealth or WBU title fight.

 

I still do not think a guy who wins a four rounder and then a six rounder should get a crack at the British belt and I doubt the guys who are in a divisions top 10 will want to do a four rounder to get the opportunity. **** actually that is wrong...forgot about Lomax, Sexton and Rogan who pretty much got the title shot because of prizefighter.

 

By doing that (IMO) you would get a better standard of fighter.

They would also go hell for leather because of a real prize (and payday) at the end... rather than trying to touchspar through the first round, get through the semi and be knackered for the final!

The problem is that you go to a typical bill, and all you get is.....

Housefighter W PTS 6 Bum
Housefighter W PTS 4 Bum (gift decision)
Housefighter W PTS 6 Eurobum

Then a half decent chief support contest, then the main event, which is sometimes crap.

 

really should just stick to heavyweights. even with **** fighters your still gonna get some good ko's.
