They'll call Errol Spence & Crawford mega-stars the promotors but the numbers will suggest otherwise.

Won't see another mega star for quite a while.

You have to define it first in terms of expectation

Floyd & Pacquiao are the highest of the high...

Canelo is a "mega-star" by normal standards.

Crawford and Spence. That fraud Wilder will be exposed long before he's even close to becoming a megastar.

    1. To be recognized all over the world
    2. Very high ppv numbers
    3. Strong personality

Again, noone would recognize Canelo in my country.

I saw NBA champions wearing boxing and WWE belts during their celebration and parade, players shadow boxing as if they just won the Heavyweight championship. I think sports fans in the US would be receptive to a dominant Heavyweight champion as boxing is so integrated in the culture. So Wilder has the best chance. The potential is definitely there.

Youre from the DR. Remember paul?

Besides, he'd see your Amazon looking ass with feet bigger than his, and you'd probably scare him away easy.

Ward vs Kovalev will be the biggest fight of 2016 for us diehards. However, the sad reality is that I doubt that fight does more PPV buys than the Khan vs Canelo fight. And where does the winner go from there? Ward cant fight Stevenson, Beterbiev or Fonfara because they are with Haymon and Roc Nation doesnt do business with Haymon fighters. Ward is too small for crusierweight. Degale and Jack are also with Haymon. If Ward beats Kovalev, his last big money fight is GGG

As for GGG, he aint the next superstar, too late.
    Loma, I dont see it.
Canelo, it depends on what he does in the next year as his rep has taken a dump
Wilder is a highlight reel KO waiting to happen. His lack of temerity with Povetkin case is concerning.
Joshua is UK based and staying there. I wish we had boxing fans like the UK does.
Boxing will be in this weak state for sometime. Unfortunatley, does the US have any standout talent in the 2016 Olympic team??

Canelo destroyed his rep, as a guy who fanboy'd canelo, I'm starting to dislike him... and that's big for me.
    GGG is too late.
Crawford - I don't like watching him. Not exactly easy on the eye you could say.
    Loma has potential.
Porter and thurman have potential star power (but not superstar power)

Anthony Joshua will be the new face of boxing, provided he wins his fights. He has immense star power. He's good looking, built like a prison wall, he's young, provides knockouts, has a huge following, speaks English and is overall a great representative for the sport of Boxing.
I understand how americans won't even have heard of him, as he is very uk-bound right now. But believe me when I say this, the next megastar will not be any of those you mentioned, it'll be AJ.
Of course this is in my opinion.

AJ does higher PPV numbers than canelo. He has more twitter followers, more instagram followers. He gets more likes and retweets, more tweets trending, How can people say canelo is the face of boxing?
Once he begins to fight in the US (so americans can watch him on primetime), he will lead the US market. Him and Deontay Wilder is a big fight in the US.
I feel showtime's world class visuals department will take advantage of AJ and make him a global superstar.

He has made it clear he does not want to stick to the UK and aims to be a global superstar. He mentioned plans to fight in Asia to spread his popularity.

Out of all the boxers, joshua is the one who has the most potential to carry the sport for the next 15 or so years.

I largely agree with you. Wilder is an American heavyweight, which gives him an inherent advantage from the onset. He also has the proper backings and blessings needed to be able to succeed in this sport.

The problem with Wilder, I think, boils down to a lack of talent.

He has the potential to become the next big star in theory, but I think his undoing will stem from the fact he isn't especially good.

Fury and GGG are well recognized. People wanted to take pics with GGG whenever he fought in NYC. Fury, when he attended Wilder vs. Szpilka, was recognized by dozens of people on the streets as well.

    Demetrius Andrade.
Once he clears out 154 he's moving to 160 to expose that Kazahkstani fraud hype job.
