MANNY PACQUIAO vs FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR

    MANNY PACQUIAO vs RICKY HATTON

MANNY PACQUIAO vs JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ III

ANTONIO MARGARITO vs PAUL WILLIAMS II

JOE CALZAGHE vs BERNARD HOPKINS II or CHAD DAWSON

ISRAEL VASQUEZ vs JUAN MANUEL LOPEZ

    ARTHUR ABRAHAM vs KELLY PAVLIK

VIC DARCHINYAN vs NONITO DONAIRE II

    JOAN GUZMAN vs EDWIN VALERO

We already have two great fights supposedly happening in '09 (JM Marquez vs J Diaz and V Klitschko v D Haye), but the potential is there for some real superfights.

Which of these would you like to see most and which ones do you think have no chance of happening?

I;d most like to see Pac in with Floyd or JMM however I think he'll fight Hatton. If Manny wins(and wins impressively) Floyd will probably come out of retirement and fight Manny. I think it's very likely we'll see both Pacquiao v Hatton and Pacquiao v Mayweather in 2009.

Unfortunately that means JMM will miss out but hopefully he'll beat Diaz and take on Nate Campbell which is another fight that needs to be made next year.

Margarito v Williams II MUST happen. That's the fight the welterweight division needs but I don't see it happening. If Williams continues to campaign at higher weights then there is little chance of the fight happenning. Also, Arum has said Cotto-Margarito II will happen even if Margo loses against Mosley which further delays a Margo-Williams fight.

I doubt Calzaghe will fight on and I've got no problem with that. If he DOES decide to go on then Dawson would be the best fight to take IMO.

The next three fights have will most likely happen and they'd all be excellent fights. Next year could be a very big year for Juanma as he gets bigger fights. I'm guessing Pavlik will take another fight after Rubio and then face Abraham at the end of '09 (though I don;t want to wait that long!)

With Donaire planning to step up and face Montiel next I think he'll face Darchinyan with all four belts on the line if he wins that.

I;m not really sure about Guzman v Valero yet. I think they won't fight each other and I'm not really fussed to be honest,

I haven't heard Guzman-Valero being talked about yet, I just included it as I think it would be a stormer!

I think Valero's people will keep him away from Guzman who would give him fits with his boxing. A Valero-Katsidis fight would be an absolute war though.

I'd like to see Darchinyan-Arce as well as a rematch with Donaire.

I'd also like to see Cotto back in action, against one of the top guys, possibly Margarito again.

Juan Diaz vs. JMM is in talks (has it been signed?), but that fight has to happen too!

The Vasquez-Marquez wars have been great but I would rather see one or the other clean out the division. Perhaps One could fight Caballero, the other fight Juanma Lopez then come together for a super duper unification bout. Now that would be even better.

As for the others, only two at the most of the Pacquiao fights will be made and I have a felling that JMM will miss out on that one. But he has a fight with Juan Diaz lined up I think anyway.

Calzaghe won't fight Hopkins again that's for sure and probably won't fight Chad Dawson.

Good call with th Vasquez-Marquez-Caballero-Lopez tourney idea. That would be pretty spectacular.

So you think Joe will retire now then?

There isn't much left for Calzaghe to do really. The only good fight for him is Chad Dawson. Problem is you can never be sure what they are thinking. Before his last fight he says it's his last or might be his last. Then he goes and wins and might stay on for another couple of fights.

I started a similar thread a week or so ago.

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113040

In which I hoped for :

    Haye vs Vitali (or Wlad)

    Calzaghe vs Dawson

    Abraham vs Pavlik

    Mayweather vs Margarito

    Pacman vs Hatton

Three of my five are also in your nine.

    Re yours:

MANNY PACQUIAO vs FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR

I'm not relly interested here as I believe Floyd is on a different level and would make this one-sided or even a stoppage.

    MANNY PACQUIAO vs RICKY HATTON

I'd love to see this one. Depending on the reffing (Ricky can't be allowed to wrestle and rough-house like he did against Tszyu), Manny should be the favourite here. Hatton would be difficult to stop but Manny has, by a good measure, the better skill set and should outpoint him. Stoppage is possible.

MANNY PACQUIAO vs JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ III

I wouldn't mind watching this one a third time. I had Pac winning both previous encounters narrowly. ( I wouldn't have complained if JMM had been awarded the last bout by a point).

This fight will probably never happen. High risk/reward ratio for Pac and his legacy, and too many lucrative $$$$ possibilities out there for Pac (and JMM).

If it did happen, it will be at 140, I believe.

Pac has demonstrated the ability to fight up there, more than JMM has, so far.

Pac is continuing to improve his overall skill set each outing, while, IMO, JMM has peaked.

    JMM is getting older.

For all these reasons, I believe Pac will win a more decisive victory, IF they meet again.

ANTONIO MARGARITO vs PAUL WILLIAMS II

    A very interesting bout.

I believe Marg will concentrate around 147 for a while and PW will seek to unify at 154. So this bout might take a while to happen (not 2009).

JOE CALZAGHE vs BERNARD HOPKINS II or CHAD DAWSON

I've no interest in seeing Cal/BHop again.

IMO, and in the opinion of the two more competent judges, he beat him very decisively the first time. In terms of round won, even if every round was close.

Bernard realized about the halfway point that he couldn't keep up to Calzaghe and fought to survive to 12.

There's no indication that a rematch would be any different.

When Bernard rematched Taylor, the result was a near carbon copy of the first fight.

    Dawson is a different story.

I would have preferred to watch Dawson in November rather than Jones. This is a 50/50 fight IMO.

I can understand if Calzaghe decides to retire now and go out on a winning note. He would be 37, fighting a very skilled 26 year old champion.

On the other hand, I would like to see one more big fight from him before he hangs them up.

ISRAEL VASQUEZ vs JUAN MANUEL LOPEZ

Possibly. I don't usually follow the little fellas that closely.

    ARTHUR ABRAHAM vs KELLY PAVLIK

Definitely want to see this in 09.

Kelly has to show he can come back from his loss to Bernard. I think he will. Kelly has height and reach advantage as well as workrate over Abraham.

Arthur has the better chin and the harder punch.

This one could go either way.

I lean very slightly to AA.

Watch for him to catch Kelly with some serious bodyshots before the coup de grace upstairs.

If it goes 12, I slightly favour Kelly.

VIC DARCHINYAN vs NONITO DONAIRE II

Again, interesting, but below the size I follow.

    JOAN GUZMAN vs EDWIN VALERO

Would definitely like to watch this.

    Someone's 0 has to go !

I believe Guzman would outbox the man who provided your new username(perhaps ???), but he would have to be careful at all times and not get caught by this kid.

Another possible hitch. Can joan make weight ?

    Presumably, this would happen a t 135.
