ok....so are you just there to complain or Are you gonna take a drink from the poisonous cup and choose???
Schulz- stiffed v foreman, lost to a juiced Botha, close fight with Moorer Norton- many believe he beat ali and holmes Tua- drew with Rahman most feel he won, beat 5 world champs but In not title fights Shavers- so close to stopping holmes, went the distance with Ali, Fought in a golden era Golota- dropper Ruiz twice and lost a UD, drew with Byrd, bowex2 Ruddock- great fight with Tyson second time, beat champions just not when it counted povetkin- very good resume. Waited too long. Klitschko match he was fouled out of winning. Wilder avoided him. Got a fair an square 1 on 1 championship fight eventually, shame he was old and it was against aj
In that group, I voted Golota. I thought Golota deserved the decisions against both the IBF champ Byrd and the WBA champ John Ruiz. I could't even sleep after the Ruiz fight. Golota's fight with WBO champ Lamon Brewster should've been for three of the four belts (with Golota holding two of them). The fighters fought the fights, the judges just blew it. Shulz would be second. I had him beating Foreman, but I thought both Botha and Moorer deserved the decisions against him (and I was rooting for Shulz in both).
I watched the Schulz- Moorer fight out of boredom and scored it a draw. So Schulz still remains the nearly man haha Botha from memory deserved the win, may rewatch that tomorrow
Norton and Golota were very talented HWs but not the most durable. Both were slick. Watch Golota bob n weave in the pocket like a HW Duran against Bowe
Yeah, I haven't watched them in years (when they happened and when I converted my VHS tapes to DVD). I remember how surprising it was there was a riot after Botha-Shulz. I wanted Axel to win as much as anyone. He got the fight at home. (Got the Moorer fight at home, too.) He just didn't pull it off either time, IMO. He deserved to win against Foreman, though.
Has to be Ken Norton for me. Razor thin decisions against Ali and Holmes. Foreman blew him away but he was doing that to everyone at the time. Carried himself like a Champion too.
If I had to list 1. golota/Schulz 2. Norton 3. Shavers, Holmes got up incredible heart and chin 4. Tua, the man beat so many champions and always appeared to be in eliminators against high level opponents. Iced ruiz and moorer, took rahman and fres 0s, stopped big O masgaev. How he never got a belt I don’t know 5- povetkin. Fight with Klitschko was an absolute joke. Wilder 100% did not fancy the job against him and missed his chance over a ropey test. Faced aj at 40 and gave him some problems early. Still top 10 in his 40s 6- ruddock , great heart, fought out his skin in Tyson 2, Lennox iced him, if his chin held up he could have got a belt. It was softened up by two back to back fights with iron mike
