The Nonito Donaire is an absolute ****in legend thread

Damn this is like something out of a movie, such a class act from both guys. Hearing Nonito’s son say that they don’t want him boxing anymore is already be an indicator that he should just retire now with his health intact. It’s not worth putting yourself in more risk after taking a beating like that from Inoue. Hopefully he decides to announce his retirement soon.

 

I hope Inoue said yes.

Nonito was the first guy I really followed at the lighter weights, because his style was just so beautiful. So he opened up a whole new world to me, myself being a (nowadays blownup ) middleweight and rarely looking south. Legend and an ATG at 118 to me.

 

I didn't dislike either man before, but both made me massive fans last night, and the sportsmanship and camaraderie shown in the aftermath is just heartwarming. I agree that Donaire should probably try to call it a day though, as he shipped an awful lot of punishment in that fight and is reaching the stage in his career where that type of damage really starts to add up in future quality of life.

Side note: good on Inoue for saying a big f*** you to the WBC.

Pure warrior. Always pushed himself and never quit. Hope he retires now and enjoys the rest of what life has to give him and his family. Definite HOF'er.

 

Donaire still continues to show why he’s the man and a legend to the sport. He always gives us great fights and great KOs, and also gets back up on his feet after losses and when people have written him off. Not to mention a real class act as well. Boxing will miss him once he’s retired.

8 years ago my son was born. My wife talked me out of giving him “Nonito” as a middle name. It was a mistake.

 

Yes. Just go back and watch the first Darchinyan fight. Nonito is so fast ,his hands his footwork, the defense just perfection. You see that and you know ATG level.

 

Can't wait for the rematch with Inoue....
