Do punch stats even remotely reflect the QUALITY OF OPPOSITION that a would be claimant has rubbed up against in his career? NO. Well, in the dustbin with them then as gauge to a fighters historical standing.

Is the OP trying to say that Danny Lopez wasn't a HOF level featherweight champion?

Is he trying to say that all those guys who consider Jerry Quarry and George Chuvalo damn good fighters are wrong?

Wait! I know what he is trying to say: "SRL, Hearns, and Hagler are not ATG's cuz they got hit, and hit hard lots of times. ****, they even lost a few times!"

Why doesn't he just ask the real question? The one we have all been waiting for the answer too.

Has little Floyd's ******* healed up since he got out of jail?

I'm a Pac fan... and yes, I prefer a more aggressive, come forward style.

That said, defense IS an important skill in boxing… and the idea behind it is to (as much as possible) avoid getting hit.

Floyd’s defensive style may not be the most exciting, or fan friendly, but he’s won a lot of fights employing it (along with his offensive skills).

Just because I may favor a more offensive style doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a style built on defense.

So far, a more defensive style seems to have worked for Floyd, just as a more offensive style seems to have worked for Pac.

    I don’t have a problem with that.

As for Floyd being the G. O. A. T. ... let's just say he's an ATG and leave it at that.

As a beginner yes that is a wise objective to follow. As a grizzled prizefighter some still go by that rule some don't yet they still have success. The truth of the matter is beating the BEST and winning the fights is the main objective. Floyd has been winning fights, but currently him beating the best has been questioned. Manny and Sergio are winnable fights. Most fighters are in for the money even Floyd has said it he's not in for legacy. Fighters like Sergio on the other hand are. All I can say is Floyd is an outstanding student, perhaps even master of his trade, but his 2 biggest tests, Sergio and Manny, he has not passed. Until he does, then he has a solid argument for GOAT.

It's actually to win. Narvaez came into the fight with donaide to not get hit and he didn't win one round

most people watching boxing wants blood just like in the arena where gladiators fought. they want to see knockdowns and ko's. nothing wrong with a strategic fight as long as culminates in ko' just like the donaire nishioka bout.

When you cut all the baloney, boxing is a game of knockouts.

That's what a common man wanted to see.

A lot of people are more of trying to be smart sounding and choose a boring and tactical fight. That's just it.

Oh and by the way, a lot of ATG defensive fighters had great fights in their own right. Pep, Gavilan among others. Was it because they were not that good? Hell no, it's because their opponents were also great that they need to dig deep and brawl to win.
