I'd say he's "God of Defeating Weak Competition". He's also "God of the Contender", and "God of the WBO"

He didn't get the big fights when he was younger, largely due to poor career management.

Surprisingly enough, I agree with you.

Yup he also let the WBO dictate to him too much. He should have dumped that belt & Warren years ago.

Joe Calzaghe is one of the greatest fighters of our generation.

His resume is actually very good, with wins over tough opponents such as Mitchell, Lacy, Brewer and of course Kessler. Sheika was coming off a win over Glen Johnson when Joe tore up his face. Veit went 30-0 and then was quickly KOed by Calzaghe - he was up to 45-1 by the rematch, and Joe again defeated him very easily and in Germany the second time. Some people discredit Joe by saying Eubank was old when Calzaghe took his title, but he was actually only 31, and Joe himself is now almost 36.

I question Hopkins resume. The only world class fighters his own size he ever fought, he lost to (Jones, and then Taylor twice). His best wins have been over fighters from smaller weight divisions (Wright, De La Hoya, and Trinidad).

i always read calzaghe is overated , only ever beaten euro`s from american posters who do not like him, but the same posters jump on dawson saying he is the man after fighting 2 fighters not in the top 100 and a european.

but these type of posters tend to be teenagers and giuliani supporters.

i'm sure if you were to check (not that you would, cause europeans don't do their research), plenty of non-americans believe calzaghe is overrated. but other than that you're right, americans are biased. that's why all of the elite level fighters hide in america and get gift decisions to pad their record.

    Man obviously.

But he'll go down as the most underrated champion of all time in America for 2 reasons.

    1. The level of competition, even though it's really not that bad and he made a lot of fighters look like amateurs which doesn't exactly help his cause.

    2. A lot of them just don't like to see a Brit dominate like he has done which is quite sad.

The true fans, whether they are British or American know that he has a god-given talent and that's all that matters. **** the rest. :good

ok, nobody, and i honestly mean nobody in america gives a **** what the british do. they don't care. it's not tolerance, it's just apathy. so the whole idea that americans "don't like to see a brit dominate" is just bull****. all you have to do is read all of the posters that overrate lennox lewis to see that the idea of an anti-britain bias is crazy.
