This Thread Is Dedicated To Things You want to say or feel about boxing but you would rather not because you know people would have a ****ing conniption if you said it...

so basically get whatever you feel you need to off your chest...

ill be the first to start

    - I personally think mosley & cotto are over rated
    - I cant wait for kelly pavlik to lose again (whether or not its paul williams who hands him that Loss) he's just a big distraction in the middle weight division... really in boxing in general... doesnt do much of anything but hold a belt
    - I hope cotto beats pacqiuao... im tired of everyone hating on cotto
    - Everyone who makes a hypocritcal joke on floyd mayweather is an idiot.. all the jokes are awful
    - I wish margarito didnt cheat... the mexican terminator was fun while it lasted
    - anything outside of the light weight to supermiddle weight division should be eliminated
    - I think max kellerman does a great job... same with the entire hbo crew really
    - I think any boxer with more than 100 wins is probably over rated (few exceptions)
    - I think floyd senior & freddie roach are over rated as trainers (respectively)
    - I think if jmm beats floyd mayweather it would be one of the top 10 biggest boxing upsets ever
    - I think if cotto loses to manny pacqiaou in the words of roger mayweather .. " he should throw his gloves in the garbage and burn them sons of bitches up"

that should be enough for you to swallow.... who's next?

    :good

it honestly wouldnt bother me a bit if the entire hw division was relagated to fighing in the same tent as farm animals at my county fair...shown on local access tv...it sucks and there's nothing on the horizon worth getting really pumped about

matter of fact.... im not even done...

    - Carl Froch is ****ing horrible @ boxing but i hope he keeps winning..... he comes to knock people out and he talks trash... whats not to like?
    - I hope David Haye Obliterates both klitscko's
    - I dont believe mikkel kessler is as good as advertised... Truth be told i havent watched him like that but people have him built up like some demi god... I doubt he's that nice
    - boxing has to be one of the most poorly organized sports.. from the people fighting, to the people organizing, to the people cheering.... I still love it none the less..
    - WHERE THE **** IS ANDRE BERTO!

    look....

lets say you were the number one welterweight as of today... the only legitimate competition you would have would be

paul williams, shane mosley, Miguel cotto, floyd mayweather, manny pacman, joshua clottey, andre berto, zab judah, carlos quintana, kermit cintron, antonio margarito

thats 11 guys.... and thats if you clean out the ENTIRE DIVISION!? so how the **** you going to tell me that you got 100 win's on your record? what 100 relevant guys are there to even fight? unless you fought the same 10 guys over and over again which would be pointless....

a lot of fighters get big time props for being like... 234-2

how could there be 234 worthy opponents?

especially if you hang around at the same weight class.... you get what im saying?

i knew this was going to come up... fair play though... your just keeping it real

My main gripes about boxing are always the same:

    - People who think the word "workrate" is an acceptable reason in itself for backing a given fighter to win a hypothetical h2h. It's such a reductive and shitty reason, it degrades the sport and rapes it of the great skill involved. As if the opponent is just going to let someone flurry punches off their face! If you are going to comment in an h2h discussion, you absolutely must go deeper than saying "workrate", it's dire.

    - Heavyweight boxing is and always was inferior to the lower weights. I try to get into it, but I just can't, not in the same way.

    - Irrational fanboys who would say anything to hate on one guy or love the other, casting aside their true opinions. I am known as a Calzaghe critic and a bit of a Mayweather critic, but if anyone ever checks my posting history, they will see plenty of positive comments about both, especially Mayweather who (despite being a total wanker) is a fantastic fighter (though he is definitely widely overrated as a welterweight).

Another user friendly creative thread by WWM. :thumbsup I'll have to think of some for this.

But specifically who are you saying is overrated? There's no point in saying there are a few exceptions if you have no idea who aren't your exceptions. Who are you saying is overrated exactly? Or is this just a silly and ill-informed generalization??

    :good:hey;)

I dont have any particular examples really at the time.... but take it how you want.... i just thinks is silly how certain guys get a lot of props for having like 150+ wins.... if your favorite fighter wanted to end up with 150+ wins atleast 140 of those opponents would be garbage

So it was just a pointless generalization without a single example in mind. Great stuff. Perhaps if you bothered to look into fighters from the eras when 100+ wins were possible, you wouldn't make these silly statements.

Another gripe for your thread: New boxer fans who criticize bygone eras because they can't be bothered finding out anything about them, and want to claim that their favourite fighters are the best ever.

ha ha ha fair enough... keeping it real...

it doesnt have anything about my favorite guys though... explain to me how you can have 100 wins and the wins be relevant.... there is no sport in the world where if you are in the top 5 ... that the 95 people behind you should even be able to compete on your level.... maybe the 3-5 trailing... but next 90... no ****ing way

    not golf
    not tennis
    not basketball
    not football
    not hockey
    not anyhting

    - I feel as a Middleweight Sugar Ray Robinson is overrated.
    - Joe Calzaghe doesn't get enough credit on ESB.
    - Ricky Hatton has been a shot fighter, or pretty close after the Mayweather fight.
    - Ricky Hatton is in the top 10 of all time at Junior Welterweight
    - Pacquiao doesn't duck any opponents he fights the best, but he has good timing when he fights them (Hatton, Morales, Barrera, De La Hoya and now Cotto)
    - I hope David Haye and Chris Arreola clean up the division and get all these boring Ivan Drago clones out of the Boxing.
