Since that was not probably my first thought then what do you think it was? Look, I want to see Mayweather fight Cotto just as much as the next person but I would wether people talk about some upcoming fights we have coming our way besides threads like these. The same people talk about the same thing day in and day out and while both sides make compelling argruements it's the same broken record over and over again.
Amsterdam is on Floyds ball sack. He devots 95% of his time on this forum to discussing Floyds greatness.
Excellent choice for a B-day present. Makes me envious, but congrats - I like it better than the Simpson one. Even if Simpsons rule hard.
Nothing much really happens. What should we discuss? Verno Phillips vs Spinks? Okay. Spinks was stabbed in the back by his own promotor. The end.
Although i would pick Cotto, i don't think Floyd is over rated. He is a great fighter, a very sharp, beautiful counter puncher. Has has beaten some very good opponents throughout his career, and i see things in his style that can definitely give Cotto trouble. I think people in this thread perhaps are critical of him because of his attitude and persona, and his annoying fans. They compare him to guys like Roy and Pea, where as in reality, these guys were extremely talented fighters, the likes of which will probably not be seen for some time. Floyd is still a great fighter in his own right. This fight is something that he should want though. Its dissapointing that he seems to have either lost belief in his own ability, or lost passion for the sport. He has the perfect opportunity here to create an amazing legacy for himself. A win vs Cotto at this stage of his career would cement his name among the greats of the sport.
How many years into the past do we consider to be relevant to P4P status? Before I can comment I need to decide how many of Floyds fights are still relevant to P4P# status, if we were to consider all of a boxers past fights then he could remain P4P#1 by beating Baldomir over and over again to the end of eternity, so that's obviously not the best solution - it's got to be based on relatively recent form, last 3 years, 4, 5? Say we take another undefeated fighter, Paul Williams prior to Quintana for instance and give them a win over Baldomir, a Zab who just lost to Baldomir and a Hatton who has already shown he is poor at 147 would we consider him the #1 at 147 over Cotto? ...or even the P4P #1!?
