Audley Harrison claims the only time David Haye was ever a real friend to him was when he needed tips on how to walk like a model

AUDLEY HARRISON has revealed David Haye once gave him *modelling tips before the pair *became bitter rivals.

The Londoners will settle their festering feud at Manchester’s MEN Arena on *November 13 after their world *heavyweight title fight was first revealed in the Daily Star Sunday on May 23.


The pair might be enemies now but they were good friends when they were amateurs and early on in their professional careers.

They trained, socialised and even went on holiday together.

But they fell out over a sparring session in 2006 which Harrison felt humiliated by, while Haye is angry at a lack of respect shown to him by his heavyweight rival.


Now Harrison, 39 next month, claims the only time Haye was ever a real friend to him was when he needed tips on how to walk like a model.


WBA heavyweight champion Haye, 29, has been a model for Versace and *Abercrombie & Fitch advertising *campaigns – and taught Harrison the *basics.


Harrison, who enjoyed a high profile after winning the 2000 Olympic gold medal, said: “I definitely had love for David Haye. I was an open book and I *believe he used that.


“He wasn’t an open book for me – maybe in how to walk down a catwalk as a model but that was it. I actually went for his advice for a show in Ireland.
“How many times has he reached out to me and asked me? Many times in boxing.


“After I lost to Danny Williams, David turned up in Miami for a sparring session but he didn’t knock me out.


“Lennox Lewis was there and David took liberties. He was a young guy, impressionable and got excited. He was desperately trying to hurt me and he didn’t.


“We were room-mates when we were amateurs and I used to go out to Tenerife with him when I was an *Olympic *champion.


“We were close and I showed him everything a friend could show him about the *business.


“When Tyson fought Julius *Francis I took David along to see it. I had one ticket spare and had a long list of people who wanted to go but I took David because I wanted to show him what it’s like at the top.


“Now David is in his prime his ego has *landed and I’m about to bring it back to earth with my left hand.”


Haye insists he does not resent giving Harrison a career-high pay-day in their clash which could gross around £10million.


But The *Hayemaker claims the fall-out is down to former European champ *Harrison’s *jealousy at his success of *winning world titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight.


He said: “He is going to deserve the money he gets because he is going to get the biggest *humiliation and beating of his life.


“To fans coming along, I say bring a pukebag, the *beating’s going to be that severe.


“He said I didn’t deserve to win the Nikolai Valuev fight and has *belittled my *achievements when he hasn’t achieved *anything as a professional.


“It is a sad way to be. People can see right through it and the jealousy behind it.”
