Chill. He didn't say Rios was as good as Vargas.

It's perfectly fine to say a budding prospect reminds you of a probable HOF fighter.

Brandon has been an underrated fighter for some time now. He is as tough as the come. He is hungry and he has a heart as big if not bigger than anyone. I knew he was destined for greatness. He made all of Garden City, Kansas proud tonight.

The comparison to Corrales is a joke also. Chico was far better of a techncian, and had alot more power. And there styles arent even that similar.

I swear.... some of yall know very little about the sport. Rios reminds yall of Corrales and Vargas?

Yeah, and Peterson reminded me of Meldrick Taylor.

There styles are NOTHING alike though. They have nothing in common outside of being two hot heads from Oxnard.

Dont get me wrong, I LIKE Rios... but he's basically just a face first brawler. Whereas Vargas was a boxer-puncher, and a damn good techncian.

If anything, compare Rios to Maidana or something.

Damn. Oversensitive much? It's called using points of reference, man.

If you were coaching little league, for instance - and you were describing one of your kids' playing style, you could say "He's kind of reminiscent of Derek Jeter in how he fields the gap" - it wouldn't mean you're putting an eleven year old on the same level as Derek Jeter. Hello! Earth to Xplosive! :nut

I'm just tired of comparisons that make no sense. Its like saying Tavoris Cloud reminds you of Tyson.

Rios' style isnt similar to Corrales, or Vargas. If anything, Corrales stylewise was a poor man's Arguello.

Rios stylewise is similar to Katsidis, and Maidana. All three are face first bangers with heavy hands.

Did you even watch the fight tonight? By the end Rios was outboxing Peterson.

You error in you analysis of Brandon just like the poster who said before this fight that Rios was one dimensional. Brandon adapts his style according to who is in front of him. He can box with the best of them but if his opponent wants to go toe to toe he is more than willing to oblige them.

Rios never outboxed Peterson. He simply forced Peterson into a brawl, and beat him down.

Stylewise however he's MUCH closer to Katsidis than he is Corrales.

Like I said before, Chico's style was similar to Arguello's.

And Vargas? If ANYBODY fought like a prime Vargas, it was Panchito Bojado. But too bad Bojado was a unmotivated fat ass who wasted his talent.

Yes, he did - starting in the third.

When your jab is more effective, and you're controlling the things like positioning and pace, and you're hitting your opponent more than you're getting hit, and you're consistently throwing and landing crisp textbook punches while nullifying the effectiveness of your opponent - that is called OUTBOXING. :hi:

I'm not even addressing the rest of your ridiculous post, because you obviously need to focus on steering that ship of yours back on course to the Milky Way. NOBODY IS UNDERRATING VARGAS OR SAYING RIOS HAS SURPASSED HIM AS A RING LEGEND. Nobody has even said that they have identical styles. Boom Boom said that Rios - as an aggressive boxer-puncher with good body punching and a tendency to like getting into brawls - reminded him of Vargas. THAT'S ALL. CALM THE **** DOWN.

Thank you IB for clarifying that up.

People get so antsy when they see their favorite fighter's name in the same sentence of some coming up fighter that they dont take the time to actually comprehend of what was said.

Pop in a tape/DVD of pre-Tito Vargas and see why its not a good comparison. Aside from the fact that Vargas was light years more talented, there styles arent even similar. Rios has skill, but make no mistake... he's a BRAWLER. Vargas wasnt a brawler at all. At least in his prime. He was a boxer-puncher who could brawl, but mainly was at his best counterpunching. Rios is a straight ahead brawler. Dont make him into more than what he is.

And I am relaxed, did you not see me apologize to the man?

I was never a fan of Vargas. I just feel that alot of ppl nowadays underrate him.
