He's terrified of the risk/reward involved in fighting him, given the much, much cushier alternatives...Tarver rematch, RJJ/Hopkins etc.
Dawson has a chance to be champ for a long time .The reality is unless none of these fighters stayed retired (Hopkins, Jones, Calzaghe) who else in the lt heavy wt division really has a chance to dethrone him? I'll tell you ...Glen the Road Warrior Johnson ...Eventually when these 2 meet again Bad Chad will have to do to him what he did to Tarver in order to stake claim as king of the division .. If and when that happens who really poses a threat thats under 38 in the division to him ????
No way! I've been touting Dawson here for years now, arguing that he would be Calzaghe's most difficult challenge. At 26, he is undefeated and holds victories over four Ring top-10 fighters and has won two of the major belts. A lot people also don't realize that he's been at 175 for only a short while. Aside from a couple bouts early in his career, Dawson only truly started compaigning at LHW since 2006. His seven fights at 175 have included wins over Tarver, Johnson, Adamek and Harding. Not bad!
I think you touted him before Dawson-Adamek, but before Dawson-Harding? That I don't recall... Anyway, welcome aboard!
I bet you he'd fight Calzaghe though. Which seems to tells us what, considering we both rate Calzaghe as riskier than Diaconu? Is he terrified of the risk part, or of the reward part, of a Diaconu fight?
