    I should probably speculate after tonight. But I won't wait. This is a good matchup, but to me the even better matchup is Huck vs. Shumenov. I think Lebedev is too tight of a boxer for BS to handle, even in a year's time after a possible move up.

    Here's an interesting scenario: Lebedev beats Huck. Shumenov defends the title a couple of times in the next year. Huck fights an easy fight or two and BS and MH meet in year or year and a half at Cruiser. This would be a better style matchup than DL/BS. Both guys have only slightly modified their amateur style and use physical strength combined with constant hard punching to wear down opponents. Both are often sloppy yet can deliver entertaining flurries of power. BS looks like he'd do well physically at 190 or so, making Cruiser a real possibility. This probably will never happen, still we can always hope.

    As far as DL is concerned, besides Cunningham, a good fight for him would have been the now-disappeared Vadim Tokarev. Two very powerful Russians with great physical strength in a slug fest. I always thought Tokarev was underrated. He beat Ismailov, destroyed Cora, Jr. in a foty type fight, and gave Huck hell. He also drew with Arslan in only his 16th fight. By the way, I'm looking for that one if you have it.

    I assume VT is retired now, which is too bad, because stylistically he makes another great matchup with his fellow countryman, Lebedev.

    Shumenov and Huck would be a free-swinging melee, and despite having equal or greater pop Huck isn't a terribly sharp puncher so Beibut might actually get the better of the exchanges...plus his footwork has improved already in just a year more than Huck's has over the last few.

    It's also a match-up that would make sense if, as you say, Huck was on the comeback trail. By then Shumenov would have a bit of a name (especially if he lands a few more American TV spots...which after last night doesn't seem unlikely) and would also seem a safe enough risk being a smaller man moving up. It would obviously be very attractive to Shumenov as well. It could be a big seller in Europe, in the east particularly.

    The flash KD from Uzelkov, together with the feather-fisted Campillo being able to rattle Shumenov a bit in the rematch, has me rethinking his chances against Lebedev. One really sharp left hand could have the Kazakh in massive trouble, and if it's early enough in the round even his improved agility probably wouldn't save him.

    Yeah - good call on Tokarev as well. There hasn't been any news on him in some time. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Tokarev-Arslan, that does sound like good viewing. :good

    Guys, please, leave Shumenov at LHW, Lebedev has great fights to make at CW.

    I would love to watch Lebedev vs Ross, that would be explosive. Huck, Diablo, Cunningham and Ramirez are the other opponents I would love to see on the ring with Lebedev.

    Is Ramirez still in the mix? He's been out of the ring almost a year.

    It's weird...he's pretty young for that long a layoff. Sadly, though, that's not too uncommon in the sport these days.

    You wouldn't think the loss to a champion would have derailed his momentum of his last few wins all that badly.

    Lebedev-Ramirez would be interesting, come to think of it. Assuming Victor shook out his rust first.

    It's a moot point since they'll never be in the same division. Haye has moved on permanently from cruiser, and Lebedev is just to small to successfully transition to heavy.

    I don't want Lebedev to move up. He has lots to do at CW and he'd be too undersized for HW.

    It's official according to the site that has news on fights. This should be a war! My preliminary sense is that Lebedev is just too linear for Huck, meaning his straighter, harder shots will negate Huck's more arcing, wild swarmer style. Lebedev should stop him in around 6-8, but will be fun while it lasts!
