Wilder, with next to nothing in amateur experience turned professional in November 2008 and fought Nichols in 2010, who had a record of 4-2-0 at the time. I am sure many boxers have fought much worse opponents than Deontay Wilder has.

He was initially going to go into professional basketball, but after the birth of his daughter who was born medically ill, he chose boxing because he needed money quickly to cover bills.

Yes, he had had quite poor opposition but we must take into account he started with no exposure or finances to propel him to the limelight. No big time promoters, no TV coverage or backing from broadcasters. He fought his way up from small hall shows.

Yes, he could have stepped up the level of opposition much sooner, however he has slightly redeemed himself by fighting against Ortiz and now Fury.

 

He was an olympic bronze medalist. I'm sure he could of got himself a better promotional deal if he tried and as for stepping up, well they held that off until the very last possible moment.

Wilder got heavily dropped by the morbibly obese Dustin Nichols. If 400 lbs can do it, I see there is no problem why much more fit 250 lbs Tyson Fury wouldn't do it too. I have Tyson Fury by KO, left straight.

I think there needs to be a wrestlemania event with a no holds bar match with Joshua vs The Worm and Al Haymon has the special referee. The bomb squad will interfere, and Deontay smashes a metal chair over that pompous bodybuilders head. Lol, what a perfect way to set up a title fight for next year.
