All aboard! One of the toughest and most entertaining characters of all times in boxing, the drunken master. Robbed again last week, by now he's probably used to it. All hail the people's champ, Emanuel Augustus :happy
I have to give it up to him too. There hasn't been a time that I've seen him fight and not been entertained. He deserved the call last week and many others. Very under-rated but very entertaining.
Indeed a great heart, underrated skills and a great character. But to be honest this thread is too late
Im and Glen Johnson have the song ''BORN TO BE ROBBED lalala....''' Gotta love the drunken master. His legacy his secured though to do his superb fight with Micky Ward.
I don't know if you guys ever seened this clip but it's real cool tho here ya go...... http://www.viddler.com/explore/BoxingHumor/videos/17/
He wasn't robbed but it was a bad decision and CLEARLY EA won. But with EA you gotta pitch a damn near shut out to get the judges to give you the nod. And this was in Figs back yard. I knew the judges weren't going to give it to EA as soon as we got to the 12 round.
It takes A LOT of talent to fight the way he does. I don't understand why he never got signed with a big promoter, I mean he's so entertaining AND a good boxer, he could've been a star. He would have had a different career and not get robbed so often with a strong promoter backing him.
Love that fight.....EA is at his best when he's comfortable like that. He's so relaxed and fluid that punches that land either don't land flush or Augustus never absorbs the full impact b/c he's so loose and has awesome angles and upper body/head movment. I wish he had gotten with a good promoter and tainer at the begining of his career. He could have been one of the best.....just a NATRUAL fighter like James Toney.
