I don't really like the idea of day/night tests in some ways. I think it will pull in more crowds in some countries but in England and other countries where tests still flourish I can't see what the advantage of it is. The change in conditions is going to be substantial from day to night, its going to very difficult for the playing field to be fair with dew and atmospheric conditions changing.

 

Oh, stop your whining, BB! What if that decision decides an Ashes series or World Cup final? There is nothing wrong with questioning poor decisions.

From a selfish POV, it means people like me can go and watch a full day's play pretty much straight after work. Look how empty the grounds are during weekdays on Tests at the moment. I also think watching Test cricket at night would be quite a spectacle. Imagine it in the Olympic Stadium with 60,000 packed-in in a few years on all 5 weekdays (that's if WHU's application is approved, of course). Happy days.

I have a theory about the 'popuilarity' of T20 anyway. Personally, I think a lot of the fans are cricket fans in general who don't have the time to go to Test matches. I find it hard to believe that T20 has it's own huge exclusive fanbase. Of course there are a few who prefer it, but I reckon most would say they enjoy all forms of cricket.

I think test cricket does pretty well in England. I think the crowds dwindle as interest dwindles, if you're playing Bangaldesh and its not competetive cricket then crowds will fall. If you're playing South Africa and Australia its a different story. Thats natural in all sports.

I think experiments have to be done extensively before that comes about. How teams bat under lights, how people bowl under lights. I think if you're not careful it effects the balance of the match and what you're doing under the lights takes too big of a role in the game, because going from night to day is a far larger swing than variations in weather during the day. It could kill spinners, if dew effects how they can grip the ball and it skids off the pitch rather than gripping. There are a lot of factors to be considered.

 

It's good fun. All of the fans from both sides are there for a laugh as well and it's a nice atmosphere to be part of. Defo recommend going if you haven't before:thumbsup.

Personally, I think it works and it has been a good thing to implement. There's nothing nice seeing a player going out in the 90s who has gone solely because he's suffered from a bull**** decision. Another upside to referrals is you get less players appealing for nothing decisions as well. Imagine Panesar if he were in the team right now.

 

I like the referral system. I like the fact it rules out obvious and clear mistakes becuase the batsman knows when he's not nicked the ball or when its hit bat first. Thats where the system is at its best.

It's a bit bizarre to refer something and rely on hawkeye but to say if its only just hitting they won't overturn the original decision. I mean surely you're all the way with hawkeye or you're not...? I don't really understand that, its confused logic.

It seems like some people are just giving Amir a free pass because of his age. Don't get me wrong, we don't know the full details yet, and for all we know he could've been forced into it, BUT, we don't know that for sure either. Some people are trying to portray him as a squeaky clean, innocent and naive kid who was probably forced into this. All this talk of putting people behind bars but what should happen to Amir? 18 year olds can think for themselves, they know the difference between right and wrong and they love money too. ****, when I was 18, which is not that long ago, I was thinking about money, girls, partying etc (I still do). Even on the radio yesterday they were talking about him as if he must have been forced into this, and that the other parties involved were corrupted by greed. So Amir can't be greedy for more money? It's total bull**** the way people are avoiding facing up to the possibility that Amir did this for the same reason as the other parties involved-greed. He's obviously a talent, and his career could suffer big time, or even end. That would be a waste, but people are letting this get in the way of facing up to the possibility that some people would rather take money over honour and integrity any day.


MAYBE the dude just wanted more money? Maybe he just wanted a better, more comfortable/luxurious lifestyle? That's the same thing the guy who was arrested wanted right? Yet, there are calls for him to be thrown in jail but when it comes to Amir he's just a young, naive boy who must have been forced by others. (which could be true but we don't know that). These old ass dudes are out of touch with todays youngters man. We're into all those vices too, and we're growing up quicker than ever too. These dudes need to wait and see what's up before showing too much sympathy.

The same thing happened a few years ago when Asif tested positive for a drugs test. He was portrayed as the naive, young village idiot who was led astray by Shoaib Akhtar. The he tested positive again in the IPL, then he was arrested for Opium possesion after landing in Dubai, and now this. Again, I'm not saying Amir is the same type of character, but I've heard this stuff about being young and naive before.

The sport i liked/played and you all might think is garbage is basketball. In my younger days i use to run off the church walls and dunk like Mike Jordan during pick up games in the "PAL" center lol My friend Curtis use to take photos of himself doing the "jumpman" pose while running off the church wall lol We would get kicked out if "Mr Johnson" cought us dunking and running up the wall.

Those were definitely the days; I use to sleep with my leaping lizards under the bed and actually tried to palm the ball and fake pass and shield away like Mike Jordan started doing in those middle years in Chicago. But what they don't tell you is that you have to have unbelievably large hands because as a game goes on, it is next to impossible with the sweat build up. I had like 8 to's before getting benched but I still had those lizards on, lol!

I remember i couldn't sleep on what we called "Jordan Eve" The snakeskin borders were coming out. The ones KRS1 had on in "My Philosophy" I was "geeked" the day they came out, I was in the store like a wino outside of a "stop & go " lol
