I have to say, I think this is a great quality matchup, as Katsidis shown he is still ready to compete at the top level, and Marquez has show he still a legit world champion.

A year or so I would say JMM easy, but with two tough fights since then, and Michael showing a asending skillset, I see this going like Marquez vs Diaz I.

I see Kat putting emmense pressure on early like normal, and JMM probably getting tagged pretty good as well. But in typical JMM style I also see him making outstanding adjustments and start outboxing Katsidis by the 4th or 5th. But I don't see a completely lopsided boxing display for JMM, as I think Katsidis will have his moments througout the fight, just not enough of them.

I say JMM earns a hard fought 115-113 type decsion. (Possibly 115-112 or 114-113 as I wouldn't be surprised if either fighter scored a kd.)

Oh and it's ok if you don't think my poll is the "official" one, it wont hurt my feelings.:yep

I mean, I know styles make fights and different matchups make different results.
but Juan Diaz beat Katsidis... Joel Casamayor beat Katsidis.... Juan Manual Marquez outboxed and knocked out both of them... and on uppercuts if I'm not mistaken... Katsidis is a good fighter but will he be able to frustrate JMM, doubt it...

JMM by late KO maybe in the 10th but yeah it will be a good fight

He should take on Soto since Pacman looks out of the equation

Marquez is one of my favourite fighters, but he is not the same fighter that knocked out Casamayor, or even the same fighter that beat Diaz first time around. His rematch with Diaz showed that age had really caught up with him, and he looked quite vulnerable in a fight which he should not have looked vulnerable in. Katsidis has improved since his losses, and is a huge puncher with lot's of heart. As much as it pains me to say, I think Katsidid will wear down Marquez with power shot's and stop him late on.

Marquez has always been one of my fav fighters to watch, but he is def past his prime. Katsidis is much improved since those two losses to Casa and Diaz and is still a high energy fighter. I like both these guys, and will have to save my prediction till later. :think

This is a really tough one for me and i probably wont make too many friends on this thread, but i think Katsidis beats him in this 1.

For me Kats is the much hungrier fighter. He has been waiting for this chance for a very long time and he wont let this pass without giving every last bit of energy he has. For me he has improved his boxing skills even if he still is a bit wild (first round in the Mitchell fight). He has good power and can trouble most.

JMM has been in some great fights and he is one of my favourite fighters of all time, but lately he has been in some tough fights which may have taken its toll on him. Arguably this fight is less important to him than the PBF and two Diaz fights so he might not be able to motivate himself as much (unlikely I admit but you can never rule it out). Also he is at the ripe old age of 37. So how many more wars can this warrior handle?

Kats will be hungry on the night and out to make a name for himself, thus he will try to pounce on him early. I think he will catch JMM early and really hurt him and force him onto the backfoot. I expect JMM to weather the storm and start to use his boxing brain by the 4th and start to outbox Kats, but Kats catches him every so often.

For me, JMM starts to get disheartened and realises the only way to win is to go to war. This is when Kats catches him and the ref jumps in, somewhere around the 10th.

Of course, JMM has more than a chance in this fight. And i wouldnt be surprised if he won by a wide UD or indeed score a late KO himself. It is also possible that JMM catches Kats and opens him up (which has happened in the past) and the fight could be stopped by the doctor.

But im still saying Kats wins by late KO. Im still undecided who i want to win as i like both (even if Kats did ruin my dream of a Mitchell-JMM fight). But this will surely be a fight thats good for boxing.

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR

Katsidis comes out aggressive, but relatively composed. His energy and aggressiveness carry him to 10 points in the first two rounds. Round three is almost impossible to score and by round 4, Marquez starts to make the adjustments but finds himself down 3 rounds to one. They pretty much trade rounds through the 9th then Marquez scores a TKO in either the 10th or 11th stanza.

JMM is on the slide now, the guys been a hard working fighter for years. Katsidis is entertaining, but not great. I cannot think of Katsidis without thinking of the hard fought fight against Grahame Earl. JMM would of slapped the **** outta Earl all night long while avoiding being caught. Anyway an aging JMM is more than enough for Katsidis.

JMM if he doesnt gas the way he did against Diaz receny should win, he is past his best however while Katsidis is prime, there is a chance he could be too much for JMM.

I think it's going to be a close decision either way; however, I'm leaning towards Katz at this point, but that could change as it gets closer to the fight

JMM. Even an aging JMM is too much for Katsidis.

The reason Diaz went 12 with JMM and got outboxed 10-2 rounds is because Diaz was not engaging very much. He almost went in there just to prove he could survive 12 with JMM.
