1.25 mil. 78 mil I believe is what the fight made.

Now I hope Pacquaio/Marquez does good so that the super fight can be made.

    Very serious.

  7. Pretty impressive. Looks like Mayweather handles his business right.

I doubted that fight would do over 1.2 buys.

Floyd Mayweather proved once again he is the biggest name in boxing after his fight with Victor Ortiz grossed more than $78m.

The total ranks second in the all-time list of non-heavyweight bouts, with only Mayweather's clash with Oscar De La Hoya in 2007 taking more in pay-per-view revenue.

'Money' was also involved in the next in the list - his one-sided victory over Shane Mosley last year coming in just under the total generated by the Ortiz fight.

Mayweather's popularity is undoubtedly boosted by his inactivity in the ring, with last month's controversial stoppage of Ortiz being only his third fight since he beat Ricky Hatton almost four years ago.

His main rival for the title of Pound-For-Pound king Manny Pacquiao, by contrast, has recorded eight wins during that time period.

"My motto is 'hard work and dedication' and I have shown this throughout my entire career, which has allowed me to go out and perform each time I step in the ring," said Mayweather.

"I give the fans everything I have with the best competition and exciting fights.

"I must be doing something right as they keep buying my fights and I appreciate their tremendous support. It feels good to be able to generate such a great interest in the sport."

With another successful pay-per-view event under his belt, Mayweather continues his reign as the biggest and most lucrative attraction in the sport. He has now appeared in the three biggest non-heavyweight pay-per-view events in the sport's history, including Mayweather vs. Oscar de la Hoya ($136,853,700), Mayweather vs. Ortiz ($78,440,000 million) and Mayweather vs. Sugar Shane Mosley ($78,330,000 million).

lol some people will try and spin this into being a disappointment.

1.25 mil against Ortiz is very good and you cant argue with revenue of $78 million in PPV revenue.

Love him or hate him nobody can deny that PBF is a huge draw.
