I wanted to do a service for the people who need handy excuses to not give Floyd credit for wins. Rather than trying to think of your own, and then end up conflicting with other people's excuses, I wanted to make things easy for everybody by making a repository of excuses for any potential future opponent for Floyd in case he beats them. Please feel free to contribute - this is a very important thread. Mosley - way past his prime Pacquiao - much smaller fighter. Mayweather always cherry-picks the tiny fighters. Also he distracted from running for office. Bradley (or anybody moving up) - also a smaller fighter with no experience at welterweight. He doesn't have much power even at his natural weight - he'd be ineffective at welterweight. Once again, Floyd hand picks smaller opponents Margarito - had a long lay off and was so badly beaten by Mosley that he doesn't have anything left anymore. Clearly he would be hand-picked by Floyd because he's not a threat. Berto - Berto isn't taken seriously at all, and after his last fight, his flaws are more glaring than ever. Obviously Floyd saw that fight and saw that Berto is no true threat yet, and wants to get him out of there now before Berto completes his development. Yet another Floyd cherry-pick to avoid any reat threats. Williams - Floyd knows that Williams has a lot of problems with slick, defensive boxers. He was clearly beaten by Quintana the first time and was arguably beaten by Martinez. Floyd is much faster than Martinez, and much better defensively. Floyd is handpicking Williams because he knows he's a nightmare matchup and just wants easy money instead of fighting someone who actually stands a chance of beating him. *Bonus excuse: ESPECIALLY if the fight is at a weight-draining 147! Martinez - Martinez is in his late 30s. Doesn't matter how good or how fast he looks. If Floyd beats him, Martinez is in his late 30s. Old. Cotto - Pac leftovers. Shot. Foreman - no power, and doesn't do anything as well as Floyd and brings nothing to the table that would be any threat - and Floyd KNOWS it. Floyd would just be cherry-picking him for a 154 title because he's such an unimpressive champion and nowhere near elite. So CLEARLY if Floyd fights any of those guys, he's cherry-picking and avoiding any real threats to him. When will he actually fight a prime black slick fighter who is a natural welterweight? Like a Floyd Mayweather.
Sad, but true. Many people said Mayweather was forced into the fight with Mosley and that it would be his first real test. Today, the same old excuses.
Kermit Cintron- One dimensional fighter, already got beat by Martinez and Margarito. Bonus: If the fight is @ 147 he is weight drained. Felix Sturm- Record padding European Bum, Oscar's leftovers.
Yeah, Cintron and Spinks are good ones. Also Spinks is shopworn and way past his prime. Cintron, despite looking better against Martinez than Pavlik, will be trashed as serious competition because of his losses to Margarito.
