Oh really? Then why can't he read the ingredient label on a side of beef?

Actually, translators tend to explain what the fighter says to a greater extent.

Briggs, native English speaker, says "Let's go champ!" every other sentence......Hardly more informative is it?

 

He's used to an Irish accent, but for the rest it's understandable.

-As a Los Angeles area native, I can say that I heard this sentiment alot growing up.

I appreciate that Golovkin is at least trying, even though he's from a very far away place from the U.S. He makes his money in English speaking countries before English speaking paying customers, he's trying to give them ko's and matter of fact commentary in English afterwards. He doesn't always succeed on either account, but he always tries.

I think you are right but Canelo plays to the Mexican market better, he believes, if he uses a translator and speaks only Spanish. It is a deliberate approach, carefully reflected on.

What kills me is the double standard of that fan base. When he was a fighter, they bitched up and down about how fake Oscar De La Hoya was, how Chavez, Lopez, and Barrera were the true active Mexican greats, and on and on and on. Now that he's a promoter, he's a god in their eyes because he's "for them" in the promotional business, fishnets and all. Alvarez's persona and his team's promotional tactics are more two faced than The Golden (rent) Boy ever was. But because Canelo is successful and talented, just like ODLH, they look past it when faced against opponents from other areas of the world. But unlike in his promoter's era, fans are more saavy and have access to more information than ever. Lot's of people who usually back a Mexican fighter are not really a Saul fan because they consider him a pretty boy punk who takes drugs. Their words, not mine.

Although I believe this thread is useless as a fork in a sugar bowl, I will responde. G's English is far better than my Russian and Kazahk. How well do you speak Russian and Kazahk?
