How much is Jim Lampley going to cry when the last fight on HBO ends on the final HBO broadcast and Jim is tasked with giving HBO boxing's eulogy as he closes the show.

This will be hard to watch to see Jim Lampley give that final call ending HBO boxing events. HBO boxing is Jim's life and I don't know how he is going to cope with not being involved in the sport calling the biggest fights.

And while everybody talks about how Showtime has been taking over and HBO was no longer the best, HBO didn't need to have the biggest roster or the most events to still be seen as the best. It's just unreal to see ESPN thriving with boxing and HBO boxing coming to an end. I remember when Floyd Mayweather made fun of fighters for being "just a ESPN fighter".

I think HBO really needs to consider retaining some of its fighters and continuing to put on HBO PPVs in the future. I mean not having regular HBO boxing programming is one thing, but for us to never get another HBO PPV again is harder to accept. This is an American tradition for HBO to bring us the biggest boxing events and boxing won't be the same without it.

When you were watching that Canelo GGG rematch you never thought in a million years it would be the last HBO PPV you'd ever watch. In the statement from HBO they left the door open to future PPV or big events so we will have to monitor the situation, but I don't see how this is good for boxing.

HBO is pretty much the gold standard of boxing coverage. And don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about Lederman or the commentary or some of the stuff we don't like about HBO boxing, I'm talking about the big event feel that HBO still manages to pull off better than anyone. To not have that any more really hurts boxing. Also one thing we know is that competition usually makes products better.

When WWF and WCW were going head-to-head on monday nights, that was some of the best wrestling ever. The point is that when you have less networks the networks can get lazy since they don't have anyone to compete with and the product could suffer. That's why boxing needs HBO and not having them in the sport hurts boxing.

I hope he cries himself to death. Jim Lampley was truly a bigoted stiff. Sitting there in his tux, yelling out missed punches like they were killer bolos, having totally unabashed bias against American fighters, and trying to sway public opinion.
Now fighters will either go through Haymon at Showtime or gp through Arum at ESPN.
