Nothing wrong with recording it and putting it on social media. He's famous so he will get famous people to do the same. At the end of the day people who need money are getting something. It's better to do something than nothing.

 

Yeah this poor old man who was begging for money at the stop light with a shopping cart and a dog. I gave him $50 and he was very grateful.

 

I'd only give via recognised routes back into society. Funding a drug habit for a day isn't something I want to do. Give a man a fish and all that.

 

True but who knows if the man is a drug addict or not? Not all homeless people are drug addicts some have mental illness some are disabled some are addicts some are down on their luck some have no family or friends.

 

Near me it's almost universally linked to drug addiction but then again the safety nets we have in place here whilst far from perfect are a far cry from what you guys have stateside.

LOL, one of the richest countries in the World, even the minimum wage is more than enough for a normal life.

If he really wants to make the World a better place, he should donate millions to UNICEF or something like that.

 

Alcohol is legal in Europe too.. so I don't see the big issue. (for marijuana being legal at all)

WHat!?!? The Minimum wage Is NOT more than enough for anything resembling a normal life...

 

I just checked it’s 7.5$ / hour. If someone works 50 hour a week then he can make 1500-1600 dollar a month. I don’t know how are things in the US, but I’m pretty sure that it’s more than enough to rent a little flat/studio and buy yourself clothes and food. That’s why I don’t feel sorry for homeless people in those countries where the economy is good.
Yeah, some of them are very unlucky, but most of them are lazy alcoholics or drug addicts who doesn’t want to work at all.

 

UNICEF & other large NGOs are pretty rubbish at making the world a better place. Partly because of the way those companies are structured, the way foreign aid works & corruption in brutal dictatorships, most of the money & aid either goes missing or gets used on something it wasn't originally intended for.

 

Any high profile person(be it a top level athlete or a-list actor) who does this and publicly broadcasts this are just trying to stroke their narcissistic egos and boost their public image. If you did that and didn't broadcast it anywhere then it's truly a good deed.
