I'm not sure Peter could have disposed of Bates any better or quicker.

 

Holy crap! I can't believe this is coming together! I don't know why....but I have a good feeling Golota could pull this out. Maybe because it is not an actual title fight and only for an interim. Leave it up to Golota to beat Peter but loose to Maskaev! I'm contemplating attending this fight now. Might just have to go. GO GOLOTA!!!!!!

 

I like Golota and all, but still...this just doesn't sit right with me.
Not only has he not earned it, but he hasn't fought at this level for years, and Bates was absolutely no worth whatsoever in preparing for this.

I've been wanting to see him do well but I see this ending in a knockout loss if it happens, and to be brutally honest I won't be upset about it which is a shame. I want to back Golota, but if this situation plays out, it's not one where I can...

Now, if he just got in there against McBride instead, pummelled him and looked to fight a top ten guy next, I'd be right on board.

 

Yes... and get his title shot when he's 50 years old...

 

Can't wait, this is going to be so sweet. When the coward gets starched again or just plain quits, maybe some of you will finaly see he is nothing but a disgrace. Then again, he's quit/gotten starched so many times I would have thought some of your thick skulls would have been penetrated by now. atsch

 

Golota is my main man in the heavyweight division but I hate this fight for him. Here is my analysis of the pros and cons of this fight.

CONS-Peter is younger, been more active, has a great chin, and a good punch. Peter is also very aggressive early which has been a problem for Andrew. Peter also attacks wildly much like Brewster.

PROS-Peter could be looking past Golota, thinking of this fight as a coronation. Golota also has no pressure in this fight as the majority of the boxing community is not going to give him a shot. Peter does not handle jabs and straight punches well, something Golota is very good at. Peter has also shown a tendency to fade later in fights.

I believe that if Golota gets through the first round, this fight will be much much closer than most boxing experts believe. Golota could pull the upset but he could also get robbed.

As a Golota fan I would have much rather Golota faced McBride, then another fighter a little bit better, then taken a title fight....that being said that plan is no guarantee and this might be the best shot Golota ever gets again.

 

Golota's got something to prove and I believe that's his intention. No sense in wasting time. Let's go!
