Golota was definitely stunned in that first round. Not sure exactly how hurt he was, but he was definitely a bit staggered. He gets hurt in the first round quite a bit-Lewis, Brewster, Tyson and now McMuffin. Even Byrd staggered him early in their bout, but that was mainly because he was off balance. He will always come into the fight cold, flat footed and nervous. But he needs to try and warm up more, start shadow boxing during his ring walk, also during the announcements, he needs to be pumping himself up the entire time, I believe this will help.

And yes, he's definitely a shell of his former self, but we've known that for quite some time. The Golota who put a beating on Bowe will never re-appear. But he still shows us some flashes of what he used to be and he might have enough to grab a belt before retiring. I thought the left hook and jabbed look much better than we've seen recently. We'll see.

IF he can get past the first couple of rounds, he'll beat Briggs easily. By 7 or 8 round stoppage. But because Golota shows up cold and Briggs is a heavy handed fast starter, this fight will have me very worried if it happens.

It wouldnt be worse than with McBride. Golota should stick to game plan
for the first few rouds, jab and move from the front then he should be fine.

Sounds/ looks like a very good course to take.

This should have Golota prepared well enough for a title fight sometime next year.

If Golota beat Meehan somehow impresively he probably get his title shot in January ...

Any heavy hitter is dangerous for Golota in the first round, and especially a heavy hitter/fast starter like Briggs. Briggs always comes out blazing in the first round, if he fights Golota this will be no exception. Golota will have to move, jab and then tie up and hold Briggs. He just needs to get out of the first round, don't even worry about winning it. If he can do this, he can start jabbing and landing combinations for the next few rounds and Briggs will gas out by round 6 or 7 and Golota will then drown him.

Meehan just knocked out a top 20 fighter in TOS. If Golota beats Meehan, yeah he'll definitely be in line for a title shot.

Now it depands how much money will Meehan want for Golota's fight. Now his stocks rised. But most likely he is next.

    Beck is step down,
win over Austin (promoted properly) could set up fight with Wald in January ....
but Austin is probably better than McBride and it would be difficult fight.

However I do not think it will be possible to put Wald on the undercard of Jones-Trinidad ...

Apparently Holy mentioned he wanted to fight Golota after he wins the championship.
