Why is it stupid? Furthermore, Brewster got lucky against Golota, as he did against Wlad in the first fight. I'd imagine it would be in Brewster's interest to avoid fighting Golota at this point in time.

 

Right, Brewster knew he could come out throwing bombs and backing up Wlad in the rematch. It didn't work, and it wouldn't work against Golota the 2nd time. If it came down to a toe-to-toe match Brewster would most likely get pummeled. Again, it would be in Brewster's interest to avoid fighting Golota at this point in time. End of conversation.

 

Wlad hasn't gotten better, just wiser. Golota also got wiser. Moreover, Golota is stronger than Wlad. It would be in Brewster's interest to avoid fighting Golota at this point in time.

 

Wlad is now strictly working behind his jab, where before he used to mix it up more. I still say it's smarter boxing, not better. Klitschko is a hard hitter when he sets up his straight long right with the jab. Golota is stronger, thicker, more rugged, and more heavy handed, not to mention he's got some skills. And, with one or two exceptions, Wlad hasn't really fought any "top" competition.

 

Golota has fought the much stiffer competition in his career. Tyson, Lewis, Riddick Bowe are some of the 3 biggest fighters of the 90s. Plus Golota fought Byrd and Ruiz while Golota was way out of his prime, same with Brewster. Grant was a much better Micheal Grant when he fought Golota, was considered the next Lennox Lewis.

Wlad has been fighting B+ fighters, but destroys them, I'll give him that.

Wlad hits harder than Golota. Golota usually knocks out his opponents with an accumulation of hard shots and combinations. Wlad has one punch KO power. Over all brute body strength probably goes to Golota.

If the two fought anytime during the 90s, Golota would knock him out.

Now, Wlad would destroy a 39 year old Golota.

 

Would depend on which Golota showed up. If the Golota who fought Bowe showed up, I can see Wlad getting knocked out. I can't really see Golota being intimidated by the well educated Wlad, but you never know with Golota.

 

But he have to start fighting, no next opponet yet so it looks like the September is the first choice.

 

Byrd, Brewster, and Brock? No offense, but I do not consider that "top" competition. And, Golota is phyically stronger than Wlad.

 

For sure. Golota has been through it all. He's not doing this just for a paycheck. He's got something to prove, and he's not going to get suckered anymore. Golota can still take on anyone in the division... and he will.

damn, seeing a prime mentally stable Golota vs. prime Wlad (pretty much now) would be great. I think it would be a great matchup. Who would take it, I dont know, but I lean towards Golota. Wlad manages well to keep everyone away by using his jab and fighting safe. I dont think he would be able to do this with Golota, since both are big guys. A few good shots and Golota could make him dizzy, while Golota would be able to take a couple of Wlad's shots.

You are correct, Golota is much too old and past his prime to take on Wlad. Although I still believe if Golota came into the fight with the right game plan, he could maybe pull an upset via Corrie Sanders, but the chances of this happening are not good. Golota can easily compete with the remaining 3 champs.
