Don King told [url]www.suntimes.com/sports[/url] that the winner of Saturday’s bout between Chicago’s Andrew Golota and Oak Lawn’s Mike Mollo will get a shot at a heavyweight title.

The 40-year-old Golota (40-6-1, 33 knockouts) last fought when he scored a technical knockout of Kevin McBride on Oct. 6. The 27-year-old Mollo (19-1, 12 KOs) knocked out Art Binkowski at Allstate Arena on Oct. 13.

‘‘Mollo called out Golota after that fight,’’ King said. ‘‘I love both of these guys, and this is going to be a great fight.

‘‘Whoever wins this is going to get a shot at the title.’’

The battle of Chicago-area heavyweights will be on the undercard of the Felix ‘‘Tito’’ Trinidad-Roy Jones Jr. main event in Madison Square Garden.

‘‘Everybody is talking about Mollo’s speed and his offensive abilities,’’ Golota said. ‘‘Why isn’t anybody talking about his defense?

‘‘‘I guess we’ll know more after the first round. It shouldn’t go the distance. I can’t see it going the distance.’’

Mollo’s also looking for the knockout.

‘‘I feel like I’m younger and faster and should win the fight,’’ he said. ‘‘Now I need to get in the ring to prove I’m ready to move to the next level.

‘‘I fear no one. I have butterflies like I should but no fear.’’

Wow, 40 minutes south of Nutley sounds like the Trenton area. It also sounds like Rums' apartment might be a bit crammed for additional company. I got an invite locally so I don't know how it will end up for me.

 

Maybe a little less, with no traffic on the TPK at 8:30pm. Back in the day when I worked there couldn't do 75 mph on the TPK. So maybe 30 minutes.
Good luck with the invite & we'll see what happens.
